SERVICE DOGS OF VIRGINIA RAISES, TRAINS AND PLACES DOGS TO ASSIST PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES.
OUR MISSION IS TO RAISE AND TRAIN DOGS TO ASSIST PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN ORDER TO CREATE INDEPENDENCE. LAST YEAR WE PLACED DIABETIC ALERT DOGS THAT ARE SAVING LIVES AND GREATLY IMPROVING THE HEALTH OF THE RECIPIENTS, WE PLACED DOGS TO HELP CHILDREN WITH AUTISM ENABLING THEM TO REACH PREVIOUSLY UNATTAINABLE MILESTONES, AND WE PLACED DOGS WITH PEOPLE IN WHEELCHAIRS WHO BENEFIT FROM THE HELP A SERVICE DOG PROVIDES BY OPENING DOORS, PICKING UP THINGS THEY DROP AND CREATING MORE INDEPENDENCE. WE HAVE INCREASED THE NUMBER OF PUPPIES IN OUR PROGRAM SO THAT WE CAN PLACE MORE DOGS IN THE FUTURE.
