Wendell Scott Mentoring Program-An essential activity of the Wendell Scott Foundation is its Mentoring Program. The objective of mentoring is to be a development strategy in a youths successful path to adulthood. Our structured mentoring program links a supportive individual with young people to build a relationship by offering guidance, support, and encouragement to cultivate the youths active and healthy development. Our mentoring program designed around specific goals, such as academic achievement, career preparation, and behavior modification. The mentoring program is tailored fit to meet specific needs and offer exposure through cultural enrichment activities.

Camp Cultivation-The Wendell Scott Foundation partnered with the United States Department of Agricultures Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to create Camp Cultivation, an agriculture and STEM summer camp on June 23-25, 2019. The residential camp was held at Virginia State University (VSU) and was designed to provide students who are typically underrepresented in agricultural and STEM disciplines an opportunity to learn more about the various career paths that could be available to them if they pursued an agriculture or STEM degree. During the camp students also had sessions with staff from admissions and financial aid. They were able to provide students with important information about applying to VSU.

WSF facilitated a one-week camp to 20 local students on-site at NCI to promote and raise awareness in the areas of education, careers and learning activities in STEM. The program offered STEM exploration activities such as Racing simulators, Robotics, 3D Printing and Computer Programming, field trips, tours of local STEM facilities, as well as career preparation and counseling tools. The students met bi-weekly during the school year and one week in the summer, with transportation being provided by the Wendell Scott Foundation.Highlights from the 2017 motorsports summer camp show that many students participating had not been exposed to similar topics and there was a high interest among students. 94 percent of students reported that they wanted to continue in the Wendell Scott Foundation afterschool and summer program. 100 percent indicated that the Wendell Scott Foundation provided their first STEM enrichment. Objectives were to increase interest in STEM.
