THE SUDANESE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION INC. (HEREINAFTER REFERRED TO AS "SAMA- OR THE "ORGANIZATION") IS A PUBLICLY SUPPORTED, NON-GOVERNMENTAL, NON-POLITICAL, NOT-FOR-PROFIT, EDUCATIONAL AND HUMANITARIAN ORGANIZATION. SAMA WAS INCORPORATED AS A US DOMESTIC CORPORATION ON APRIL 29, 2008 UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF WISCONSIN WITH A MISSION TO ADVANCE THE HEALTH OF THE SUDANESE PEOPLE THROUGH TRANSFERRING MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, IMPARTING EDUCATION, AWARENESS AND TRAINING MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS TO PROVIDE EQUALITY HEALTH CARE TO PEOPLE IN SUDAN. SAMA'S MEMBERS ARE PRIMARILY MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS OF SUDANESE DESCENT. SAMA'S MISSION IS TO PROMOTE AND SUPPORT THE HEALTH AND WELLBEING OF PEOPLE IN SUDAN BY DELIVERING EXCELLENT, SUSTAINABLE AND MEASURABLE MEDICAL SERVICES, EDUCATION, TRAINING AND CAPACITY BUILDING. SAMA IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF MEDICAL SERVICES TO THOSE IN NEED THROUGH HUMANITARIAN INITIATIVES.
HUMANITARIAN RELIEF PROGRAM : THE MISSION OF THIS PROGRAM IS TO ADVANCE THE HEALTH OF THE SUDANESE PEOPLE THROUGH TRANSFERRING MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, IMPARTING EDUCATION, AWARENESS AND TRAINING MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS TO PROVIDE EQUALITY HEALTH CARE TO PEOPLE IN SUDAN. SAMA'S MEMBERS ARE PRIMARILY MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS OF SUDANESE DESCENT. EXPENSES UNDER THIS PROGRAM ARE INCURRED TOWARDS THE FOLLOWING CAUSES : HEART PROGRAM, HEALTH SERVICES, MEDICAL SUPPLIES, WOMEN'S HEALTH PROGRAM, SURGICAL MISSION, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, PRIMARY HEALTH CLINIC, KIDNEY PROGRAM AND CANCER FUND. HEART PROGRAM - CARDIAC IMPLANTS AND RHEUMATIC HEART DISEASE CARDIAC IMPLANTS - THIS PROGRAM AIMS TO PROVIDE HIGH VALUE CARDIAC DEVICES THAT IMPROVE PATIENTS LIVES AND EXTENDS LIFE EXPECTANCY FOR THOSE SUFFERING HEART FAILURE. SAMA HAS A LONG-STANDING PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR HEART AND LUNG DISEASES, SHAAB TEACHING HOSPITAL, THE LARGEST CARDIAC CARE AND THE ONLY EMERGENCY CARE PROVIDER FOR EMERGENCY ADULT CARDIOLOGY IN THE COUNTRY. THE STAFF OF SHAAB TEACHING HOSPITAL ARE HIGHLY COMMITTED TO FACILITATING THE LOCAL LOGISTICS AND SCHEDULING OF PROCEDURES AT THE HOSPITAL. RHEUMATIC HEART DISEASE - SAMA HAS COLLABORATED WITH SUDAN CHILDRENS HEART SOCIETY (SCHS) TO SCREEN FOR RHEUMATIC HEART DISEASE IN SUDAN SINCE 2015. THE PROGRAM AIMS TO SCREEN OF SCHOOL CHILDREN FOR RHD, TRAIN PHYSICIANS (PRIMARY AND SECONDARY CARE), TRAIN MEDICAL ASSISTANTS AND NURSES AND INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS TO RECOGNIZE EARLY SIGNS OF RHD. WOMENS HEALTH PROGRAM - MIDWIFERY TRAINING AND CERVICAL CANCER PROGRAM SAMA PARTNERED WITH JHPIEGO (A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION AFFILIATED WITH JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY) TO INTRODUCE THE JHPIEGO MODULES HELPING MOTHERS SURVIVE BLEEDING AFTER BIRTH (HMS-BAB) AND HELPING MOTHERS SURVIVE PRE- ECLAMPSIA AND ECLAMPSIA (HMS-PEE) IN SUDAN SINCE 2016. THIS PROGRAM AIMS TO REDUCE MATERNAL DEATH AND IMPROVE BIRTH OUTCOMES BY TRAINING COMMUNITY MIDWIVES ON THE ABOVE CERTIFIED MODULES AND PROVIDE THEM WITH CLEAN BIRTH KITS AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL. THE PROGRAM ALSO BUILDS THE CAPACITY OF RURAL HEALTH CENTERS AND HOSPITALS BY DONATING EQUIPMENT, SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS AND SUPPLIES. CERVICAL CANCER PROGRAM AIMS TO TRAIN PHYSICIANS ON EARLY DIAGNOSIS AND MANAGEMENT OF CERVICAL NEOPLASIA CELLS PREVENTING PROGRESSION TO CERVICAL CANCER. SAMA ESTABLISHED A COLPOSCOPY UNIT FURNISHED WITH 4 VIDEO COLPOSCOPES AND LEEP AND CRYO-MACHINES THIS WAS A SEED FOR THE CERVICAL CANCER RESEARCH CENTER AT SOBA UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL.
