PROGRAMMING AND FIELD TRIPS NEARLY 80,000 VISITORS PARTICIPATED IN MUSEUM ACTIVITIES IN 2019. IN ITS EFFORT TO ENSURE ACCESSIBILITY AND TO SUPPORT ALL FAMILIES, THE MUSEUM OFFERED FREE ADMISSION TO 1 IN 8 VISITORS. MONTHLY FREE ADMISSION EVENTS, SCHOLARSHIP MEMBERSHIPS, AND THE MUSEUMS FOR ALL PROGRAM 2 ADMISSION FOR VISITORS WITH A EBT SNAP CARD MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR EVERY CHILD TO ENJOY THE MUSEUMS RICH LEARNING ENVIRONMENT. THE MUSEUM WELCOMED 8,500 STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND PARENTS THROUGH SOL-BASED FIELD TRIPS DESIGNED TO ENHANCE THEIR CLASSROOM STUDIES. MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAMS SUCH AS YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD, MAKER CITY, AND VOLUNTEERING ENGAGE THE UPPER END OF THE MUSEUMS TARGET AUDIENCE. THE MUSEUM CONTINUES TO PARTNER WITH LOCAL UNIVERSITIES AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO PROVIDE UNIQUE, EXPERT-BASED PROGRAMMING THAT ENGAGE YOUNG MINDS.
EXHIBITS THE MUSEUM FEATURES 15 EXHIBIT GALLERIES DESIGNED TO HELP CHILDREN LEARN THROUGH PLAY. THE EXHIBITS ARE ALSO THE INSPIRATION FOR MUSEUM ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS. WITH THOUSANDS OF VISITORS EACH YEAR, REPAIR AND REFURBISHMENT OF ALL EXHIBIT AREAS IS ESSENTIAL. IN 2019, THE MUSEUM ADDED NEW LEARNING ACTIVITY STATIONS TO EXISTING GALLERIES TO ENHANCE PLAY VALUE ON BOTH FIRST AND SECOND FLOORS. THE MUSEUM ALSO BEGAN THE DESIGN WORK FOR A FUTURE FINANCIAL LITERACY EXHIBIT. STAFF AND COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS COLLABORATED WITH BOSS STUDIO TO CREATE THE VISION FOR AN ENGAGING BALL MAZE EXHIBIT THAT WILL TEACH YOUTH THE PRINCIPALS OF EARNING, SPENDING, SAVING, INVESTING, AND SHARING. THIS EXHIBIT WILL BE FABRICATED AND INSTALLED IN THE FUTURE AS FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE.
