Organizations Filed Purposes:
The mission of Serenity Farm is to prevent equine neglect, abuse, abandonment where we can and rehabilitate and find loving, forever homes neglected or abused equines. We educate the public on the beauty and value of rescued horses. We give purpose to the lives of neglected or abused equines through interaction with humans, including emotionally or physically challenged individuals. We provide equine interaction to individuals with emotionally or physically challenging needs. We welcome all volunteers including adults and school-age with disabilities. We provide horsemanship instruction for our volunteers. We coordinate with agencies in the Commonwealth of Virginia and by providing current and future equine owners and other relevant groups with information and resources.
All equine are legally seized or legally surrendere3d by owners who are unable to care for them. Only critical cases are accepted. (meaning equine that require immediarte medical care and/or retraining to avoid death or euthanization)
Volunteer Program - Local community members can volunteer and learn horsemanship skills and equine caretaking.
Volunteer Program for those with Special Needs - -Individuals with disabilities volunteer to gain work skills and work experience in order to qualify for additional services. We coordinate with agencies like DARS and local therapeutic agencies. We receives no funds from these agencies. -Court Services and state reentry programs require community services. Individuals meet that requirement volunteering here. We coordinate with local Resource Council and Probation Officers. We recieve no funds from these agencies
