IL STATE GRANT DURING THE 2018-2019 YEAR, 529 DISABLED CONSUMERS AGED ONE DAY THROUGH 92 WERE SERVED. OUT OF THE NUMBER OF RECIPIENTS THAT RECEIVED SERVICES, 19% OF THEM WERE YOUTHS RANGING FROM AGES 0-19. THE LARGEST CATEGORY SERVED WERE PERSONS WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES. FOLLOW UP CONTACT WAS MADE WITH 443 SERVICE PROVIDERS IN THE AREAS OF HEALTHCARE, TRANSPORTATION AND ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY. FOUR (4) HOUSEHOLDS RECEIVED ASSISTANCE TO PREVENT INSTITUTIONALIZATION. THIS ASSISTANCE INCLUDED RAMP AND DECK REPAIRS, AN OIL FURNACE, HANDRAILS FOR A PORCH AND MOVING HELP TO A FIRST FLOOR RENTAL UNIT. THE IL STATE GRANT FUNDS PROVIDE CORE SERVICES AND SUPPORT IN PEER COUNSELING, INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS, INFORMATION AND REFERRAL, SYSTEMS AND INDIVIDUAL ADVOCACY AND TRANSITION TO THOSE WITH NEW OR EXISTING DISABILITIES.

IL PART B GRANT STAFF ATTENDED AND PARTICIPATED IN SEVERAL SPECIAL EDUCATION ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETINGS IN THE COUNTIES OF AMHERST, BEDFORD AND CAMPBELL AND THE CITY OF LYNCHBURG. STAFF ASSISTED IN THE COORDINATION OF THE CENTRAL VIRGINIA TRANSITION FAIR WHICH WAS HELD IN LYNCHBURG AND GAVE A PRESENTATION TO PARENTS AND EDUCATORS ON MEDICAID WAIVERS DURING THE AFTERNOON SESSION. STAFF ATTENDED A MEETING OF THE BEDFORD COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD AND MADE VERBAL COMMENTS DURING THE PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD. STAFF HAS ADVOCATED FOR INCREASED PARENT PARTICIPATION IN THE BEDFORD COUNTY SPECIAL EDUCATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE. 58 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WERE INVOLVED IN CIL LED OUTREACH AND TRAINING ACTIVITIES IN THE THIRD QUARTER. THE IL PART B GRANT FUNDS ARE USED TO IMPLEMENT THE FIFTH CORE SERVICE (TRANSITION AND DIVERSION).

BEDFORD COUNTY PROVIDED SERVICES FOR 181 DISABLED CONSUMERS RESIDING IN BEDFORD COUNTY, VA., WHICH INCLUDED IL CORE SERVICES AS WELL AS TICKET TO WORK EMPLOYMENT NETWORK CASE SERVICES REQUESTED FROM PERSONS RECEIVING SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY BENEFITS. LACIL ACTIVELY PARTICIPATED WITH THE BEDFORD AREA RESOURCE COUNCIL WHICH INCLUDED MEMBERS FROM APPROXIMATELY 30 OTHER AGENCIES, BUSINESSES, CHURCHES AND ORGANIZATIONS PROVIDING SERVICES TO THE BEDFORD REGION.
