Organizations Filed Purposes: THE ASSOCIATION OF ORGAN PROCUREMENT ORGANIZATIONS (AOPO) REPRESENTS AND SERVES ORGAN PROCUREMENT ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH ADVOCACY, SUPPORT AND DEVELOPMENT OF ACTIVITIES THAT WILL MAXIMIZE THE AVAILABILITY OF ORGANS AND TISSUES AND ENHANCE THE QUALITY, EFFECTIVENESS AND INTEGRITY OF THE DONATION PROCESS.

SEE PART III, LINE 1.

ANNUAL PROGRAM - THE AOPO ANNUAL MEETING PROVIDES A FORUM FOR CURRENT TRENDS AND TOPICS, INFORMATION ABOUT THE LATEST TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY IN ORGAN AND TISSUE PROCUREMENT FOR TRANSPLANTATION, ADVANCES IN THE OPO COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE, AND RELATED GOVERNMENT UPDATES. SESSIONS ENCOURAGE STAKEHOLDERS AT ALL LEVELS OF AN OPO TO EXCHANGE IDEAS, UTILIZE BEST PRACTICES, AND COLLABORATE TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF AN ORGAN PROCUREMENT ORGANIZATION, WHICH ULTIMATELY WILL HELP THEM BETTER ACCOMPLISH THEIR MISSIONS OF SERVING THEIR COMMUNITIES THROUGH DONATION AND TRANSPLANTATION. THE BENEFITS OF ATTENDING INCLUDED: EDUCATION AND TRAINING; A FORUM FOR CURRENT TRENDS AND TOPICS; LATEST TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY; COLLABORATION; A PLACE FOR ALL LEVELS OF AN OPO TO EXCHANGE IDEAS.

LEGISLATIVE AND REGULATORY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE - THIS COMMITTEE, COMPOSED OF AOPO MEMBERS, IS CHARGED WITH CONTRIBUTING KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE TO THE OVERALL ADVOCACY AND OUTREACH INITIATIVES AND ACTIVITIES OF AOPO. THE ACTIVITIES OF THIS COMMITTEE INCLUDE CONTRIBUTING TO WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS TO ELECTED OFFICIALS AND REVIEWING AND OFFERING INPUT ON OTHER PLANNED INITIATIVES. THIS IS AN ACTIVE AREA OF AOPO OPERATIONS AND INCLUDES THE INCORPORATION OF PROFESSIONAL SERVICES FROM OUTSIDE EXPERTS, WHICH INCLUDED THE HIRING OF A NEW PUBLIC AFFAIRS CONSULTING FIRM AND LOBBYING FIRM DURING THIS FISCAL YEAR.

STANDARDS AND ACCREDITATION COMMITTEE - AOPO ACCREDITATION PROGRAM CENTERS ON THE STANDARDS AND GUIDANCE DEVELOPED BY THE ASSOCIATION. THE ACCREDITATION PROCESS PROMOTES LEARNING AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO BUILD A SOLID FOUNDATION FOR THE OPO THAT CAN LEAD TO IMPROVED OVERALL QUALITY AND OUTCOMES. THE STANDARDS AND ACCREDITATION COMMITTEE CONDUCTS THE ACCREDITATION PROGRAM, CONTINUALLY REVIEWS AND UPDATES THE STANDARDS AND INTERPRETIVE GUIDELINES, PROVIDES INFORMATION AND TRAINING TO THE MEMBERSHIP, AND OVERSEES THE REACCREDITATION PROCESS. THERE ARE TWO SUBCOMMITTEES THAT HELP CARRY OUT THESE RESPONSIBILITIES: THE STANDARDS REVIEW SUBCOMMITTEE AND THE TRAINING SUBCOMMITTEE. THE ACCREDITATION PERIOD IS AWARDED FOR THREE YEARS. UPON RECEIPT AND ACCEPTANCE OF AN APPLICATION, THE OPO WILL PROVIDE SUBSTANTIAL DOCUMENTATION IN ADVANCE, AND THEN HAVE AN ON-SITE SURVEY OF THEIR FACILITIES AND OPERATIONS AS APPLICABLE AND POSSIBLE. SITE SURVEYORS REVIEW THE OPO FOR COMPLIANCE WITH ALL ASPECTS OF THE ASSOCIATION'S STANDARDS. THE COMMITTEE IS STAFFED BY THE AOPO CEO AND THE ACCREDITATION AND PROGRAM MANAGER.
