Organizations Filed Purposes: WE EXIST TO SHARE THE HOPE OF JESUS CHRIST WITH CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN POVERTY THROUGH FREE CAMP AND MENTORSHIP.

CAMP HOPE RICHMOND IS 2, ONE WEEK LONG RESIDENTIAL SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMS FOR THE KIDS OF METRO RICHMOND, VIRGINIA. 130 CAMPERS AGES 8 TO 14 COME FROM SOME OF THE MOST DIFFICULT SITUATIONS IN OUR CITY. THESE CHILDREN FACE THE REALITIES OF POVERTY, VIOLENCE, DRUGS, GANGS, NEGLECT, HOMELESSNESS AND HOPELESSNESS. THEY ARE FACING ENORMOUS PRESSURE AND CHALLENGES TO GET INVOLVED IN UNHEALTHY BEHAVIORS. CAMP HOPE IS A FUN, SAFE PLACE. A PLACE WHERE THEY CAN TRY NEW THINGS, DEVELOP HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS, EAT WELL, AND SHARE ABOUT THE STRUGGLES THEY FACE. THEY ARE ENCOURAGED, HELPED, AND LOVED. OUR STAFF WORKS WITH CAMPERS TO LEARN ABOUT THE VALUE OF LIVING IN A HEALTHY COMMUNITY, ABOUT BEING A PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER THAN OURSELVES, ABOUT TRUST, AND ABOUT GOD'S GREAT LOVE. WE WORK WITH 14 LOCAL RICHMOND MINISTRIES WHO HAND PICK THE CAMPERS WHO NEED CAMP HOPE THE MOST, AND WHO ARE PRESENT IN THEIR DAILY LIVES. WE WORK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THESE SPECIAL ORGANIZATIONS TO STAY CONNECTED WITH THE CAMPERS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

CAMP HOPE LATVIA IS 2, ONE WEEK LONG RESIDENTIAL SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN LIVING IN CRISIS IN LATVIA (EASTERN EUROPE). EACH SUMMER WE SEE ABOUT 200 KIDS IN OUR PROGRAM. THEY RANGE IN AGE FROM 5-18. OUR CAMPERS COME FROM SOCIAL HOUSES, ORPHANAGES, OR FOSTER CARE. MOST ARE LIVING IN EXTREME POVERTY, AND OFTEN EXPERIENCE HUNGER AND NEGLECT AND SOMETIMES ABUSE. CAMP GIVES THEM A WEEK AWAY FROM THE STRUGGLES OF THEIR DAILY LIFE, TO JUST BE KIDS - TO EAT WELL, SLEEP WELL, TO PLAY, AND TO RECEIVE HOPE. OUR GOAL IS THAT EVERY CHILD LEAVES CAMP HEARING THAT THEY ARE VALUABLE, THEY HAVE BEEN CREATED FOR A GOOD PURPOSE, AND THAT THEY ARE LOVED BY GOD AND BY US.

CAMP HOPE COSTA RICA IS A ONE WEEK LONG RESIDENTIAL CAMP PROGRAM FOR UNDERSERVED AND REFUGEE CHILDREN FROM SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA. IN OUR INAUGURAL YEAR, WE WELCOMED 80 CAMPERS, AGE 8-14, WHO HAD COME FROM A VARIETY OF CIRCUMSTANCES.EACH CAMPER WAS HANDPICKED TO ATTEND CAMP. ALL OF THEM NEEDED TO HEAR THERE IS HOPE BEYOND THEIR CIRCUMSTANCES, THAT THEY ARE LOVED AND THAT THEY ARE VALUABLE. CAMP WAS HELD AT CAMP LA CUMBRE IN THE CLOUD FOREST. CAMPERS EXPERIENCED AN AMAZING FACILITY, ACTIVITIES THAT THEY'D ONLY DREAMED OF, ATE HEALTHY FOOD (AND LOTS OF IT) AND HAD A BLAST. IN THE MIDST OF IT ALL, IN THIS SAFE PLACE, THEY WERE ABLE TO SHARE THEIR TROUBLES, TO BE ENCOURAGED BY OTHERS WHO HAD WALKED THROUGH SIMILAR EXPERIENCES, AND TO HEAL. OUR LOCAL COSTA RICAN PARTNER WILL CONTINUE THE WORK OF LOVING AND HELPING TO SUPPORT THESE PRECIOUS KIDS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. WE PLAN TO CONTINUE NEXT YEAR.
