A PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO PROVIDING AN INTERACTIVE FORUM FOR THE ADVANCEMENT AND EXCHANGE OF SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION IN THE FIELD OF TOXICOLOGY. THE MISSION IS TO EDUCATE, LEAD, AND SERVE PROFESSIONALS IN INDUSTRY, GOVERNMENT AND ACADEMIA BY PROMOTING THE EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION AND PERSPECTIVES ON SAFETY ASSESSMENT AND THE APPLICATION OF NEW DEVELOPMENTS RELATED TO TOXICOLOGY.

ANNUAL MEETING AND AWARDS - THE 40TH ANNUAL MEETING WAS HELD IN PHOENIX, ARIZONA IN NOVEMBER 2019 AND WAS ATTENDED BY 1,253 INDIVIDUALS. THE MEETING INCLUDED EDUCATIONAL COURSES AND SYMPOSIA ON TOPICS OF RESEARCH AND ISSUES RELATED TO THE VARIOUS FIELDS OF TOXICOLOGY.

EDUCATION AND INFORMATION - THE ASSOCIATION HELD FOUR COURSES DURING 2019. TOXICOLOGY FOR PHARMACEUTICAL AND REGULATORY SCIENTISTS COURSE IS A FIVE-DAY COURSE AND WORKSHOP WHICH WAS TAUGHT BY TOXICOLOGY EXPERTS. IN 2019, 80 PARTICIPANTS OBTAINED AN OVERALL UNDERSTANDING OF THE PRINCIPLES OF NONCLINICAL SAFETY EVALUATION WITH EMPHASIS ON THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF THESE PRINCIPLES AND INTERPRETATION OF NONCLINICAL DATA. IN 2019, 79 PARTICIPANTS ATTENDED ACT'S PRACTICAL REPRODUCTIVE AND DEVELOPMENTAL TOXICOLOGY COURSE. THIS FIVE-DAY COURSE PROVIDED A BASIC UNDERSTANDING IN REPRODUCTIVE AND DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY AND PRINCIPLES OF VARIOUS TESTING APPROACHES FOR REPRODUCTIVE AND DEVELOPMENTAL TOXICOLOGY, WITH STRONG EMPHASIS ON THE PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF THESE PRINCIPLES AND INTERPRETATION OF NONCLINICAL SAFETY DATA AS WELL AS RISK ASSESSMENT. IN 2019, 76 PARTICIPANTS ATTENDED ACT'S ADVANCED COMPREHENSIVE TOXICOLOGY COURSE. IN THIS FIVE-DAY INTENSIVE COURSE, ATTENDEES WERE PROVIDED DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS OF PRINCIPLES OF TOXICOLOGY, EFFECTS OF XENOBIOTICS ON ORGAN SYSTEMS, MECHANISMS OF TOXICITY, RISK ASSESSMENT, AND REGULATORY TOXICOLOGY. ACT ALSO HOSTED "PRACTICAL APPLICATION FOR TOXICOLOGY IN DRUG DEVELOPMENT" IN CAMBRIDGE, UK.

PUBLICATIONS - THE ASSOCIATION PUBLISHES SIX ISSUES OF "INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF TOXICOLOGY AND THREE SUPPLEMENTS, WHICH ARE USED TO DISSEMINATE INFORMATION ON ISSUES AND CONCERNS RELATING TO THE FIELD OF TOXICOLOGY TO THE MEMBERS. THE ASSOCIATION ALSO PUBLISHES A MEMBERSHIP NEWSLETTER ON A QUARTERLY BASIS. THE NEWSLETTER DISSEMINATES INFORMATION ON THE ASSOCIATION'S ACTIVITIES, MESSAGES FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, AND A SCHEDULE OF EVENTS TO ITS MEMBERS.
