Organizations Filed Purposes: THE GREATER RESTON ARTS CENTER (GRACE) ENRICHES COMMUNITY LIFE BY PROMOTING INVOLVEMENT AND EXCELLENCE IN CONTEMPORARY VISUAL ARTS. IN PURSUIT OF THIS MISSION GRACE PROVIDES A YEAR-ROUND PROGRAM OF CONTEMPORARY VISUAL ART EXHIBITIONS, EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR ALL AGES, AND SPECIAL EVENTS INCLUDING THE NORTHERN VIRGINIA FINE ARTS FESTIVAL.

EVENTS: THE NORTHERN VIRGINIA FINE ARTS FESTIVAL IS A NATIONALLY RANKED, JURIED, OUTDOOR SHOW OFFERING THE COMMUNITY AN OPPORTUNITY TO ENJOY AND PURCHASE SUPERIOR FINE ART AND FINE CRAFT FROM OVER 200 ARTISTS. THE FESTIVAL IS BOTH GRACE'S LARGEST FUNDRAISER, AND ITS MOST-ATTENDED EVENT. IT ATTRACTS OVER 30,000 PEOPLE TO RESTON TOWN CENTER OVER THE WEEKEND AND OFFERS PATRONS THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE IN ART APPRECIATION, EXPERIENCE INNOVATIVE DANCE PERFORMANCES. FOR FAMILIES WITH YOUNG ARTISTS WE OFFER THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE IN CREATIVE ART MAKING.

EDUCATION: GRACE IS COMMITTED TO ITS DIVERSE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TARGETING A BROAD CROSS-SECTION OF THE COMMUNITY. IN ADDITION TO OUR LONGSTANDING GRACE ART OUTREACH PROGRAM, UTILIZED BY NEARLY 40 SCHOOLS IN THE AREA AND IMPACTING OVER 20,000 CHILDREN, GRACE HAS CONTINUED TO OFFER INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN INCLUDING THE EXPLORE MORE! ART BUCKETS, A POPULAR GALLERY DROP-IN PROGRAM; TGIF FREE FRIDAYS, FREE MONTHLY ART-MAKING PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN; AND OUR ANNUAL SUMMER ART CAMPS OFFERING SUBSTANTIVE INSTRUCTION AND CREATIVITY FOR CAMPERS. ALL OF THESE PROGRAMS WERE OFFERED IN TANDEM WITH OUR REGULAR EXHIBITION OPENINGS, AS WELL AS TALKS AND WORKSHOPS PRESENTED BY ARTISTS PARTICIPATING IN OUR EXHIBITIONS, AND THE NEWLY CREATED CREATIVE RESPONSES, OFFERED FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC ONCE A MONTH, FOR WHICH EXPERTS IN THEIR FIELD RESPOND TO THE ARTWORK ON VIEW AND ENGAGE THE AUDIENCE IN CONVERSATION.

EXHIBITIONS: GRACE MOUNTS SIX TO EIGHT CONTEMPORARY ART EXHIBITIONS EACH YEAR, TYPICALLY FEATURING WORK BY EMERGING AND ESTABLISHED ARTISTS FROM THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION. GRACE MOUNTS SOLO EXHIBITIONS AS WELL AS THEMATIC GROUP SHOWS, AND PRESENTS A DIVERSE EXHIBITION SCHEDULE FEATURING A BROAD RANGE OF CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS WORKING IN A WIDE VARIETY OF MEDIA. EXCEPTIONAL EXHIBITIONS IN THIS TIME PERIOD INCLUDED SHIH CHIEH HUANG: SYNTHETIC TRANSFORMATIONS, A SITE-SPECIFIC INTERACTIVE IMMERSIVE INSTALLATION, AND AN EXHIBITION BY ATLANTA-BASED ARTIST RADCLIFFE BAILEY ABOUT HIS FAMILY'S PERSONAL HISTORY WITH THE GREAT DISMAL SWAMP. TWO YOUTH ART MONTH EXHIBITIONS IN MARCH OF 2017 HIGHLIGHTED WORKS PRODUCED BY AREA ELEMENTARY STUDENTS THROUGH THE GRACE ART OUTREACH PROGRAM, AS WELL AS OUR ANNUAL HIGH SCHOOL ARTIST EXHIBITION, EMERGING VISIONS.
