Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE PURPOSE OF THE AMERICAN REAL ESTATE AND URBAN ECONOMICS ASSOCIATION IS IN THE AREAS OF REAL ESTATE, URBAN ECONOMICS AND ALLIED AREAS TO 1)PROMOTE EDUCATION AND ENCOURAGE RESEARCH; 2)IMPROVE COMMUNICATION AND EXCHANGE INFORMATION ABOUT COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY FACULTIES; 3)FACILITATE ASSOCIATION OF ACADEMIC, PRACTICING PROFESSIONALS AND RESEARCHERS.
THE ASSOCIATION HOLDS AN ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE ALLIED SOCIAL SCIENCES ASSOCIATION (ASSA) MEETING IN EARLY JANUARY OF EACH YEAR. THIS CONFERENCE IS REFERRED TO AS THE AREUEA-ASSA CONFERENCE. A SEPARATE ANNUAL CONFERENCE IS HELD EACH MAY OR JUNE AND IS REFERRED TO AS THE AREUEA NATIONAL CONFERENCE. THE LATTER HAS TRADITIONALLY BEEN HELD IN WASHINGTON, DC AT THE OFFICES OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF HOME BUILDERS (NAHB). THE AREUEA-ASSA CONFERENCE AND THE AREUEA NATIONAL CONFERENCE ARE BOTH DEDICATED TO FURTHERING THE EXCHANGE OF RESEARCH IDEAS AND RESULTS ABOUT COMMERCIAL AND RESIDENTIAL REAL ESTATE MARKETS, AND URBAN ECONOMICS. THE ASSOCIATION ALSO HOLDS AN INDEPENDENT INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE EACH SUMMER OR WORKS WITH A RECOGNIZED PROFESSIONAL REAL ESTATE ASSOCIATION FROM ANOTHER PART OF THE WORLD TO SUPPORT THAT GROUP'S EFFORT TO ENHANCE THE STATE OF REAL ESTATE KNOWLEDGE.
THE ASSOCIATION FIRST PUBLISHED "REAL ESTATE ECONOMICS (REE)" IN 1973. "REE" IS THE OLDEST ACADEMIC JOURNAL FOCUSING ON REAL ESTATE ISSUES AND IS CONSIDERED THE PREMIER JOURNAL FOR REAL ESTATE RELATED TOPICS. THE JOURNAL FACILITATES COMMUNICATION AMONG ACADEMIC RESEARCHERS AND INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS AND IMPROVES THE ANALYSIS OF REAL ESTATE DECISIONS. ARTICLES SPAN A WIDE RANGE OF ISSUES, FROM TAX RULES TO BROKERS' COMMISSIONS TO CORPORATE REAL ESTATE INCLUDING HOUSING AND URBAN ECONOMICS, AND THE FINANCIAL ECONOMICS OF REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT AND INVESTMENT. THE ASSOCIATION MAINTAINS A WEBSITE WHICH INCLUDES BACK ISSUES OF THE ACADEMIC JOURNAL TO FURTHER DISSEMINATE REAL ESTATE AND URBAN ECONOMICS INFORMATION.
