VIDEO VISITATION PROVIDES A LOW COST ALTERNATIVE (NO TRAVEL, LODGING, OR MEAL EXPENSES) TO IN-PERSON VISITS FOR FAMILIES WITH INCARCERATED RELATIVES, WHILE ALSO REDUCING SECURITY RISKS (CONTRABAND, INMATE MOVEMENT) FOR PRISON PERSONNEL. AFOI CURRENTLY PROVIDES VIDEO VISITATION OPPORTUNITIES TO ALL OF VIRGINIA'S ADULT CORRECTIONAL CENTERS FROM VISITOR CENTERS IN RICHMOND, NORFOLK, ROANOKE, ALEXANDRIA, PETERSBURG AND FREDERICKSBURG.
MAC CHILDREN'S PROGRAM - PROVIDES SCHOOL-BASED GROUP SUPPORT SERVICES TO CHILDREN, GRADES K-5, WHO HAVE AN INCARCERATED PARENT, WITH THE PURPOSE OF INCREASING SELF-COMPETENCY, FEELINGS IDENTIFICATION, COPING SKILLS AND RESILIENCE WITHIN THE PARTICIPATING CHILDREN. AS EMOTIONAL DYSREGULATION DECREASES, THE CHILDREN ARE THEN BETTER ABLE TO ACHIEVE SOCIALLY, EMOTIONALLY, ACADEMICALLY AND PHYSICALLY. THE MAC PROGRAM ALSO PROVIDES SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE PARENTS/CAREGIVERS OF THESE CHILDREN IN ORDER TO REDUCE HOUSEHOLD STRESS AND BOOST THE CHILD'S CAREGIVING ENVIRONMENT.
