Organizations Filed Purposes:
The purposes for which the organization is formed are:A. To organize and maintain an organization or organizations to coordinate the soliciting of funds for charitable purposes and allocate the same to such local, non-local or foreign organizations as it may determine.B. To interest itself in all matters pertaining to the Jewish community in the city of Richmond and its vicinity and in and outside of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and to be helpful in such ways as are to the best interest of all persons of the Jewish and Richmond community.
The Jewish Community Federation of Richmond works to create and secure a strong Jewish Future. This year, Federation funded 30 agencies and programs locally, nationally, and in more than seventy countries around the world. This funding went to day schools, youth service programs, and cultural institutions that enabled scholarships for low income families, infrastructure, and general programming connecting families to community. We also provided advocacy and support that facilitated over $3.8 million in government program aid through the Paycheck Protection Program and Security grants. The Richmond Jewish Community continues to depend on Federation and our agency partners for financial assistance, support, and care.
Throughout the past eight decades the Federation has been committed to the welfare of the Jewish People worldwide and ensuring that isolated and needy Jews are not forgotten. Federation supports programs and services in Former Soviet Union, Latin America, and Europe which care for the vulnerable and foster Jewish renewal among younger generations. Through our partnership with Jewish Federations of North America, American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, and Jewish Agency for Israel, we are able to provide services which touch every stage and age of Jewish Life. This partnership enables welfare relief to 70,000 elderly Jews in the Former Soviet Union, providing food, medicine, medical care, socialization and cold weather support. Federation also funded over $144,000 in programs designed to build and strengthen connections between Jews in Richmond, Israel, and Ukraine.
Federation in partnership with Beth Sholom Excellence in Senior Living, Jewish Family Services Richmond, Weinstein Jewish Community Center, and other local partners provide for the basic human and support needs of people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. This includes food, financial assistance, housing, medical needs, counseling, and socialization in a Jewish setting and inspired by Jewish values. Federation provided $42,000 in support of the Jewish Care Line, the single point service line connecting Jews in needs with the financial and counseling support they require.
