Organizations Filed Purposes:
The goals of the Coalition are to coordinate and communicate a shared national vision about the importance of high-quality palliative care in multiple settings including hospice, hospitals, and in the community. Our vision is that all patients, families and caregivers who need it will have access to quality hospice and palliative care.Our Coalition organizes its key programs and activities based on our strategic priorities: Quality, Research, and Education/Payment.
To present a united national voice to the public and policy makers on behalf of providers, professionals and other organizations. We work together to improve the lives of patients and families living with serious or life-threatening illness.
Quality: our two main programs included multi-stakeholder engagement for quality measure development and continued implementation efforts on the National Consensus Project for Quality Palliative Care (NCP).The Coalition is the sub recipient of a federal grant to lead multi-stakeholder engagement efforts to create two new palliative care patient reported quality measures. The coalition is also the home of the National Consensus Project for Quality Palliative Care (NCP), a multi stakeholder effort to establish and implement high-quality clinical practice guidelines in all healthcare settings.
Education/Payment: The Coalition is leading efforts to communicate and educate the field about value-based payment models to deliver palliative care in new and different ways and quality measurement. Activities include a series of educational webinars geared to an interdisciplinary audience of physicians, physician assistants, nurses, chaplains, social workers, and pharmacists.
Research: The Coalition is leading efforts to unify behind a national palliative care research agenda amongst more than 40 national organizaations to present a united approach and vision for the future of palliative care research in the United States.
