HIV/AIDS Prevention - Nia offers prevention programs designed to increase awareness and educate the community on the devastating effects of the HIV/AIDS epidemic by facilitating educational sessions with target populations, offering free HIV/AIDS counseling and testing, reducing the number of HIV infections, and eliminating the stigma associated with the disease.Substance Abuse and HIV Prevention for Racial/Ethnic Minority Young Adults provides racial/ethnic minorities between the ages of 18-24 with evidences-based HIV and substance abuse prevention programs.During FY 2017, conducted 128 video based condom and safe sex education sessions, 390 other Aids education sessions, provided services to 513 individuals, disseminated 5049 pieces of educational materials, and conducted 119 medical test.

Women Take Charge is a comprehensive community-level heart education intervention for African American women in Greater Richmond. The program, was developed to empower women to increase their awareness of heart disease, identify and reduce their personal risk factors associated with the disease.During FY 17, Nia hosted Party Red, an empowerment event for African American women. During the event participants listened to The Heart Truth, a presentation about heart disease and its affect on African American women. Afterwards the women took part in a cardio workout in the form of line dance and enjoyed healthy snacks.

C-TECH WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT-is the education and certification of persons in the area of Telecommunication. The program teaches participants the basic operations of networks, fax machines, telephones, television systems and cellular telephones. The program takes 40 hours to complete and participants earn a BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Service International) Certification upon passing an exam. Graduates of the program are qualified to enter entry level positions in the field of telecommunications. This course/certification is a pre-requisite to the Copper and Fiber Optic installation. During FY2017, Nia became a certified training site and had an instructor certified to teach the class. Classes for participants will begin in the Fall of 2018.
