Organizations Filed Purposes:
WE MAKE ART AND CAREERS IN CREATIVE INDUSTRIES ACCESSABLE TO ALL THROUGH COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, INSPIRING PROGRAMMING, AND EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION.
WE HOST ARTS FOCUSED EVENTS AND WORKSHOPS THAT BRING TOGETHER MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY TO ENGAGE WITH ART IN ALL ITS FORMS. WE RUN ARTS AND TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS AT NO COST TO OUR PARTICIPANTS THAT INTRODUCE YOUTH TO CAREERS IN CREATIVE INDUSTRIES.
ARTS AND TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS:THE HEART OF OUR PROGRAMMING, THESE COURSES ENCOURAGE PARTICIPANTS TO USE TECHNOLOGY AS A CREATIVE TOOL AND TO EXPAND THEIR DIGITAL LITERACY. PARTICIPANTS HAVE OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN DIRECTLY FROM VISITING CREATIVE CAREER PROFESSIONALS, AND ARE PAIRED WITH COLLEGE STUDENTS AND RECENT GRADUATES, WHO SERVE AS ONE-ON-ONE MENTORS AND INSTRUCTORS. TO DATE WE HAVE RUN THE FOLLOWING COURSES FOR UNDERSERVED YOUTH FROM RICHMOND'S EAST END: ANIMATION, COSTUME DESIGN, DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY, VISUAL COMMUNICATION, CITY STUDIO: SPRING BREAK DESIGN CAMP, STORY HOUR AND CAREER PANELS.
COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS & EVENTS:THESE FREE OR LOW-COST WORKSHOPS SERVE TO FACILITATE ACCESS TO THE ARTS FOR EAST END RESIDENTS OF ALL BACKGROUNDS, AGES, AND SKILL LEVELS. USING A RANGE OF ARTISTIC MEDIUMS, WE INVITE PARTICIPANTS TO COLLABORATE AND IMMERSE THEMSELVES IN THE CREATIVE PROCESS. WE AIM TO CREATE WORKSHOPS THAT DIRECTLY SUIT THE INTERESTS OF OUR PARTICIPANTS AND TO EXPAND OUR OFFERINGS TO ENCOURAGE CONTINUED COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION AND INVESTMENT. EXAMPLES OF WORKSHOPS & EVENTS WE HAVE HOSTED: CYANOTYPE WORKSHOPS, A COMMUNITY ANIMATION PROJECT, PHOTO BOOTHS, AND GUEST ARTIST TALKS.
