Organizations Filed Purposes:
Advocates for quality care for all persons with life limiting illnesses. Promotes hospice and palliative care education and ethical practices and serves as a united voice and resource for its members.
The educational needs of members, including clinicians employed by provider members, was assessed through evaluations completed by participants in the previous year. Three educational events were provided during 2020. The Annual Leadership meeting was held in a new format in 2020 in conjunction with the Virginia Association for Homecare and Hospice in November. This was a collaborative, online event for the first time. A new event that we held in 2020 was a year end on-line fundraiser between November and December. This event was open to members and non-members as well as vendors.
The Virginia Association for Hospices & Palliative Care (VAHPC) continued to represent its members in a variety of ways that support its mission in 2020. Both professional and community organizations and events related to community-based, patient centered care continue to be the focus of VAHPCs external activities. VAHPC continues to represent its members at the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organizations Council of States, the Virginia Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) Advisory Board, the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance, Virginia Department of Emergency Management MIH-CP Workgroup and Hospice Advisory Group CGS,Medicare Jurisdiction 15 Contracted Administrator.
Administrative and Management of Organization - Continued to control administrative and general expenses at budgeted levels.
