JMHS Band Parents' Organization Inc. provides volunteer and financial support to the student band program at JMHS in Vienna, VA. Parent-organization members (all volunteers ) design and build props used in the marching show; the organization purchases all the materials for the props. The organization pays the fees of adjunct Instructors to assist the and director in teaching the students both the drill and the music for the marching show.
Concert Band: three concert bands participate in performances, concerts, festivals, adjudicated events. All students participate in all events and performances for concert band throughout the academic year; professional musicians provide specialized instruction by instrument section; Instruments are purchased and maintained.
Winter guard: Varsity color guard students are taught a new show each winter for indoor performances in competitions; the guard show is professionally designed , and costumes, flags, and equipment are purchased. The students travel in state to competitions.
