Organizations Filed Purposes: The Organization's mission is to mobilize the local community to help the neediest among us by supporting and enhancing the community system of services, programs, and facilities that work to prevent and make homelessness nonrecurring. The mission is accomplished through fund raising and providing resources into the community.

The Organization provided a grant to the City of Virginia Beach Housing and Neighbor Preservation to support programs that make homelessness rare, brief and nonrecurring for families and individuals in Virginia Beach. The funds are intended to assist people experiencing homelessness or a housing crises and help them obtain housing by providing financial assistance through rent, utilities and security deposits, rental arrears and emergency housing fees. Additionally, the funds support the Housing Resource Center ("HRC"), which provides permanent housing through individual apartments, temporary housing for families and individuals, as well as provides day services including meals and bathing. Specifically, from the period between May 2020 and December 2020, $44,736 of these funds were used to meet homeless persons needs as follows: Pay rent is arrears - $16,159; rental assistance $11,485; security deposits - $11,100; pay utilities in arrears - $5,992. In all, 18 homeless families benefited from these funds. Additionally, $50,000 of the funds are earmarked to provide 6 months rental assistance (not totaling more than $8,000 per household) to homeless families with minor children, and ultimately empower families to become self-sufficient. $60,000 of this grant is a pas-through grant from the Hampton Roads Community Foundation and will provide short-term financial assistance to families as homelessness prevention support. The goal is to provide at least 3 months of financial support in the form of security deposits and rental arrears.to approximately 20 homeless families. Funds not spent in 2020 will be carried forward to 2021.

The Organization provided a grant to the Virginia Beach Education Foundation to be used to supply "beach bags" weekly during the school year (35 weeks) to 133 students identified as homeless and/or needy. Each bag contains 10 shelf stable food items to sustain the students over weekends and school breaks. This task was particularly challenging during 2020 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. In total the funds provided by VB Home Now provided 24,426 beach bags to over 530 students from 268 families that had been identified as homelessness abd experiencing food insecurity.

The orgainization provided a grant to the Virginia Beach Community Development Corporation to provide utility and transportation assistance for residents of Cedar Grove Apartments, an affordable rental community exclusively for disabled and homeless veterans.
