Organizations Filed Purposes: VolTran (volunteer transportation) provides free transportation necessary to take care of the medical and social needs of the elderly, persons with disabilities, and others in serious need so they can remain independent and enhance their quality of life.

VolTran is a volunteer transportation service that is designed to provide rides for the elderly and persons with disabilities to medical appointments and transportation for critical errands such as physical therapy, groceries, and pharmacy visits. Also provides transportation for cancer patients to medical appointments.

Funds received both through citizen's donations and from any grants were used to manage our program, increase the number of our volunteer drivers, and pay the salary of our contract employee. Because of COVID, we ceased driving operations from mid-March thru mid-June. With half of our regular drivers willing to start back, we returned to operations mid-June. For 2020, our drivers drove 25,334 miles and donated 1,670 hours of their time. We have six board members, recruited 10 new drivers for a total of 32 both active or semi-active drivers.

We received $3,141 in donations thru the online Give Local Piedmont campaign; a $3,000 grant from the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation, and $10,750 from the Regional Transportation Collaborative as a result of a PATH Foundation grant. These funds were used to pay the Recruitment Coordinator's salary.

Because we were unable to gather socially to appreciate our drivers, we presented birthday gift cards throughout the year, and gas/food gift cards at Christmas. All other remaining expenses are to support normal operating budget needs.
