Organizations Filed Purposes: THE NATIONAL COLLEGE OF PROBATE JUDGES WAS ORGANIZED TO IMPROVE THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE IN THE COURTS WITH PROBATE JURISDICTION. THE MAJOR PURPOSES ARE ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH A NUMBER OF NATIONAL AND REGIONAL PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS LISTED BELOW. ANNUAL EDUCATIONAL SEMINAR HELD IN THE FALL AND PROBATE COURSE HELD IN THE SPRING FACILITATE EXCHANGE OF IDEAS AND NEW APPROACHES FOR IMPROVING ADMINISTRATION OF PROBATE COURTS. NATIONAL COLLEGE OF PROBATE JUDGES PROVIDES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO PROBATE JUDGES AND COURTS HAVING PROBATE JURISDICTION.

THE 2019 FALL CONFERENCE OF THE NATIONAL COLLEGE OF PROBATE JUDGES WAS HELD NOVEMBER 13-16, 2019 IN PHILADELPHIA, PA. THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY 90 ATTENDEES. IN ADDITION TO THE YEARLY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETINGS, AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM WAS PROVIDED FOR PARTICIPANTS. EDUCATIONAL TOPICS INCLUDED WERE: 1. WHEN MIGHT BLOCKCHAIN APPEAR IN YOUR COURT? 2. IMPROVE YOUR ACCESS TO JUSTICE 3. NATIONAL JUDICIAL OPIOID TASK FORCE 4. THE ESTATE OF HAN SOLO: ADMINISTRATION PROBLEMS OF GALACTIC PROPORTIONS 5. PENNSYLVANIA GUARDIANSHIP TRACKING SYSTEM 6. A BRIEF HISTORY OF PENNSYLVANIA ORPHANS' COURT 7. ADVOCACY FROM THE BENCH: ADDRESSING FAILED DRUG POLICY WITH A GAVEL 8. JUDGES BEHAVING BADLY AND OTHER WAYS TO LEAVE THE BENCH EARLIER THAN PLANNED

THE 2019 SPRING COURSE OF THE NATIONAL COLLEGE OF PROBATE JUDGES WAS HELD MAY 14-17, 2019 IN NEW ORLEANS, LA. APPROXIMATELY 85 PEOPLE ATTENDED THE COURSE, WHICH INCLUDES AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM IN ADDITION TO THE YEARLY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETINGS. EDUCATIONAL TOPICS CONSISTED OF: 1.USING TECHNOLOGY TO MONITOR "RED FLAGS" IN PROBATE CASES 2. DIGITAL ASSETS 3. UNIFORM GUARDIANSHIP, CONSERVATORSHIP, AND OTHER PROTECTIVE ARRANGEMENTS ACT 4. TURBOCOURT INTELLIGENT FILING: INCREASED ACCESS FOR FILIERS, IMPROVED EFFICIENCY FOR PROBATE COURTS 5. FINDING THE RIGHT FIT - DECISION MAKING SUPPORTS AND GUARDIANSHIP: A NEW RESOURCE FROM THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR STATE COURTS 6. HEARSAY EXCEPTIONS IN PROBATE AND ESTATE PROCEEDNGS 7. A ROAD INCREASINGLY TRAVELED: MULTISTATE PROBATE ISSUES 8. ASSET PROTECTION TRUSTS 9. FIDUCIARY ETHICS AND THE USE OF SPECIAL NEEDS TRUSTS IN COMBINATION WITH ABLE TRUSTS
