OUR MISSION IS TO SAVE LIVES BY IMPROVING PRE-HOSPITAL EMERGENCY CARE. IN 2019 THE FOUNDATION FUNDED TRAINING FOR 13 NEW PARAMEDICS FOR FIRE AND EMS DEPARTMENTS THROUGHOUT THE PUGET SOUND REGION; PROVIDED EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT GRANTS TO 16 AREA FIRE (CONTINUED IN SCH. O) DEPARTMENTS; FUNDED 11 NEW RESEARCH PROJECTS; CONTINUED OUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF THE PULSEPOINT CITIZEN RESPONSE SYSTEM IN SEATTLE ; AND EXPANDED OUR CITIZEN CPR AND AED TRAINING PROGRAM.

PARAMEDIC TRAINING & CONTINUING EDUCATION - THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDED TRAINING FOR 13 PARAMEDICS FROM BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, LAKE STEVENS, MARYSVILLE, ORCAS ISLAND, NORTH KITSAP, SEATTLE, SHORELINE, SOUTH KING COUNTY, AND SNOHOMISH COUNTY FIRE DIST 7; FUNDED 120 HOURS OF CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION FOR 280 SEATTLE AND KING COUNTY PARAMEDICS; PURCHASED TWO NEW TRAINING MANIKINS SO THAT PARAMEDIC STUDENTS CAN LEARN ON THE SAME EQUIPMENT THAT IS CURRENTLY USED BY OUR REGION'S FIRE DEPARTMENTS.
RESEARCH - THE FOUNDATION FUNDED 11 NEW RESEARCH PROJECTS THAT ASSESS THE POTENTIAL OF NEW TREATMENTS AND PROTOCOLS IN OUT-OF-HOSPITAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE INCLUDING: HELPING FIRST RESPONDERS TARGET CARE AND ALTER INTERVENTIONS THAT WILL IMPROVE OUTCOMES FOR PATIENTS WHO SUFFER SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST; INCREASING THE KNOWLEDGE AND WILLINGNESS AMONG INDIVIDUALS WITH LIMITED ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TO PERFORM BYSTANDER BLEEDING CONTROL; EVALUATE THE EMERGING USE OF OUT-OF-HOSPITAL BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS AND THE IMPACT ON PATIENT OUTCOMES; DETERMINE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF HIGH FIDELITY SIMULATION CURRICULUM FOR PRE-HOSPITAL AIRWAY MANAGEMENT.
