CONFERENCES,SPECIAL EVENTS,WORKGROUPS. The Council hosts/promotes an annual TBMC conference. The conference is an event dedicated to managing I.T. like a business. It provides I.T. leaders with education to better manage and communicate the value of their I.T. investments. Sessions at the conference cover topics from best practices in the industry to deep-dive sessions about the discipline of TBM. Attendees network with others over 4 days and share TBM strategies with other I.T. leaders from around the world. The council also hosts a TBM European summit at which global I.T. leaders gather to explore technology trends, challenges, and opportunities. The Council also designs workgroups to foster collaboration between senior technology leaders. In the workgroups, I.T. professionals come together to develop thought leadership and research a scheme of classifying I.T. costs and metrics to translate financial data into both I.T. and business perspectives. Each workgroup is made up of 15-25 senior executives who meet four times per year.
STANDARDIZATION & PROMOTION OF TBM PRACTICES & PRINCIPLES. TBMC serves its members and the I.T. profession by defining a data-driven framework for decision-making that creates and sustains business value. The Council aims to publish a generally accepted set of TBM practices and to faciliate benchmarking by business technology leaders against those practices. The Council is working to establish and promote TBM standards and practices in the I.T. industry that will help measure, manage, and communicate the budget, cost, consumption and value of I.T. The TBM framework is comprised of standards created with input from the Council's members, partners, and technical advisor. The framework provides a means by which I.T. leaders can assess whether their own organizations have adopted the standardized disciplines and capabilities. I.T. leaders can benchmark their own organizations against the framework, as well as their industry peers.
EDUCATION. The Council has established a network among I.T. professionals while assisting in the professional development of each individual member. The Council's conferences and workgroups provide an arena for membership interaction.
