WSA champions high quality early learning through professional development, collaboration and advocacy for Head Start, Early Head Start and Early Childhood Education and Assistance Programs (ECEAP).
Activities include training for staff, directors and parents in member programs and other early learning organizations, participation in state planning groups related to early learning, parent leadership development, and state and federal advocacy.
Strengthened the Association through engaged membership participation and board development. Improved members' services through communication, effective meetings, cutting edge training, support services and leadership opportunities. Specifically, we held two very successful Washington State Association meetings that included top notch trainers along with noteworthy speakers. In June we held a conference (Summer Institute) which included intensive workshops on literacy development, working with children with disabilities, and improving health outcomes. We also held several regional trainings/workshops and conferences. We also held a meeting and a retreatfor Headstart Directors. This gave Directors an opportunity to learn new skills and share information.Established strong collaborative partnerships with related associations, programs,governmental units and individuals.Provided financial training and asset building to low income parents.
