RECRUITING AND RETAINING DIVERSITY - FIRE 20/20 DELIVERED FIVE RECRUITING AND RETAINING DIVERSITY WORKSHOPS IN ANAHEIM (CA), MONTGOMERY COUNTY (MD), NEW HAVEN (CT), RICHMOND (VA), TORONTO, CANADA. FIRE 20/20 EXTENDED THE RECRUITING AND RETAINING DIVERSITY PROGRAM TO INCLUDE FOLLOW-UP WEBINARS WITH DEPARTMENTS THAT WENT THROUGH THE WORKSHOP. FALL 2012, FIRE 20/20 LAUNCHED A MONTHLY TOPIC WEBINAR. EACH MONTH FIRE 20/20 FACILITATES A PANEL OF PEOPLE TO DISCUSS A DIFFERENT ISSUES IN THE FIRE SERVICE REGARDING INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY.
FIGHTERS ON FIRE: FIRE 20/20 HAS BEEN DEVELOPING AND IMPLEMENTING TWO MAJOR EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND ONE RESEARCH PROGRAM TO ACCOMPLISH ITS MISSION: NINE REGIONAL WORKSHOP TRAINING 81 FIRE DEPARTMENTS AND ONE FIRE ACADEMY TEAM HOW TO BE MORE EFFECTIVE RECRUITING AND RETAINING DIVERSITY; RECRUITING & RETAINING DIVERSITY ONLINE TRAINING; PARTNERING FOR PREVENTION WORKSHOP AND THE PARTNERING FOR PREVENTION NATIONAL RESEARCH STUDY. ALL OF THESE PROGRAMS DIRECTLY SUPPORT FIRE 20/20'S MISSION TO CONNECT FIRE AND EMS DEPARTMENTS TO THEIR MULTICULTURAL COMMUNITIES TO INCREASE THE REACH AND EFFECTIVENESS OF DIVERSITY RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION, EMERGENCY RESONSE AND PREVENTION.
