Provide low-cost or free legal services to individuals and families in need for such services. We provided legal services to 1,136 people in 2019. Organizing and Advocacy - provided 3,582 people with support and resources through workshops and presentations.
Colectiva serves as a Fiscal Sponsor to Fair Fight Bond Fund, a program that provides bond money to low-income individuals detained at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma, Washington. The program started in November 2018. Two indiviudals were released after providing a $5,000 bond money for each individual.
Colectiva acts as a fiscal sponsor to Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network (WAISN). WAISN protects and advances the power of immigrant and refugee communities through a multiracial, multilingual, and multi-faith coalition of over 100 organizations. WAISNs organizing strategy educates and mobilizes statewide to uphold and defend the rights and dignity of immigrants and refugees, centering the voice of impacted communities. Created know-your-rights, Rapid Response curriculums, trained over 800 verifiers and built 20 rapid response community teams. Work with undocumented folks between the ages 14-28 and provide volunteer opportunities, fellowships, internships, and leadership roles for youth. The hotline averages 900 calls per month, including text messages in 5 languages. Hosted 100 youth at a statewide gathering. There are now 10 youth groups working for migrant justice. Colectiva Legal charges a 10% admin fee on all funds raised to cover admin expenses.
