Chelan Valley Hope is a gross-roots local social services agency 'hub' for compassionate connections and resources since 2009. We empower people to improve their own lives by giving them a hand up; not just a hand-out. We do this by hosting essential local and regional services where everyone is treated with dignity and compassion. MISSION: Furthering Positive changes in people's lives. VISON: We envision a Chelan Valley where all people in need are compassionately connected with timely relief and other relevant resources. VALUES: Our values include Empowering, Sustainability, Stability, Choice, Direction, Dignity, Building Relationships, Compassionate Caring, Listening, Record-keeping, Continuity of Care, and Tailoring relevant resources for each client.
Chelan Valley Hope provides assistance, advocacy and referral services to under-resourced families and individuals throughout the Greater Chelan Valley and into adjacent counties as defined in our geographic reach. Chelan Valley Hope is a hub for compassionate community connections and resources. Our purpose is helping individuals and families in crisis access basic needs like food, transportation, utilities, rent, clothing, emergency shelter, fuel, and basic non-food needs therefore empowering people to improve their lives through direct services, enrichment programs, family advocacy programs, mental health referrals, employment and educational opportunities.
Chelan Valley Hope provides a confidential intake and assessment by highly trained volunteers and staff who know the local resources and supports client households with emergency stipends to assist with rent, utilities, gas, car repairs, bus tickets, non-covered medical/dental care, clothing, and more. Our organization helps clients develop a care plan to achieve or restore solvency, and we connect clients with resources for continued recovery, growth, and long-term success. In 2019 we assisted over 700 clients representing nearly 400 households. Since 2015 Chelan Valley Hope has actively joined with other agencies in Chelan and Douglas Counties to form a Community Housing Network with the purpose of providing coordinated access to housing and shelter for residents facing homelessness. Chelan Valley Hope administers Commerce grants through the City of Wenatchee Grants. In 2019 an average 14% of our clients received case management services for homelessness or being at-risk or facing homelessness. In 2019, over 70 client households received emergency shelter for an average of 4 nights and received case management support to locate improved stability with transitional or permanent housing.
Chelan Valley Hope is committed to managing and safekeeping donor advised funds. We have the shared mission of helping people easily access essential resources, and together we leverage our assets to multiply our reach. Funds include MANGER MALL and TLC. Manger Mall works diligently to provide donations of gifts at Christmas time every year to over 300 needy families and an average of 650-1,000 kids annually. Families are able to enjoy the dignity of giving during difficult financial times. TLC for Seniors Program offers free volunteer visits to assist seniors to live comfortably in their own home via companionship, support to achieve health and self-care goals, resource connections, and caregiver support.
Chelan Valley Hope purchased the building located at 417 S. Bradley Street from the City of Chelan. The Cornerstone building is home to local non-profit relief organizations that coordinate efforts and leverage resources to maximize assistance to struggling, under-resourced area residents. The organizations are Chelan Valley Hope, The Food Bank, Catholic Family Services, Manger Mall, Celebrate Youth Recovery, and English Second Language Classes. Many donors and businesses in the community have helped Chelan Valley Hope to purchase the Cornerstone Building, giving the compassionate community organizations a permanent home. The first phase of Chelan Valley Hope's project, to purchase the Cornerstone building was complete in March 2016.
