HOLDEN RECEIVES SUPPORT IN THE FORM OF VOLUNTEER LABOR AS FOLLOWS: 1) SPECIALIZED LABOR TO REMODEL BUILDINGS AND IMPROVE THE HYDRO-ELECTRIC SYSTEM. THIS LABOR WAS VALUED AT $20,885. 2) SKILLED LABOR (TEACHING STAFF, CARPENTARS, MECHANICS, HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATORS). THE VALUE OF THESE SKILLED HOURS TOTALED $375,386. 3) COMMON OR "UNSKILLED" LABOR INTEGRAL TO OPERATIONS WORTH $705,000 WHEN COMPUTED AT MINIMUM WAGE. THIS TOTALED 13,144 HOURS OF SKILLED (CALCULATED AT $28.56/HR) AND 58,771 HOURS OF COMMON LABOR (CALCULATED AT MINIMUM WAGE).
HOLDEN VILLAGE OPERATES AN ONSITE STORE WHICH PROVIDES BOOKS, RECORDED AND WRITTEN MUSIC, CARDS, CLOTHING ITEMS, CRAFTS, POTTERY, JEWELRY, AND OTHER RESOURCES TO GUESTS AND STAFF. RESOURCE MATERIALS ARE IN KEEPING WITH THE HOLDEN MISSION OF HEALING, INTERCESSION, ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP, SACRAMENT, AND GOOD HUMOR. IN ADDITION, THE HOLDEN STORE SUPPLIES A SMALL AMOUNT OF SUNDRIES FOR SALE TO GUESTS AND STAFF, SUCH AS TOOTHBRUSHES, TOOTHPASTE, CAMPING SUPPLIES, PENS AND PAPER, BATTERIES, SNACK ITEMS, ETC. HOLDEN ALSO HAS A VARIETY OF OTHER PROGRAMS THAT OPERATE WITHIN THE OVERALL FUNCTIONING OF THE MISSION AND PURPOSE OF THE VILLAGE INCLUDING ARTS AND CRAFTS, POOL HALL/BOWLING ALLEY, SNACK BAR, AND COFFEE STAND.
HOLDEN ALSO OPERATES A PARKING FACILITY FOR GUESTS AND STAFF TO LEAVE VEHICLES IN ORDER TO TAKE BOAT TRANSPORTATION TO THE VILLAGE; ALSO INCLUDES SMALL REVENUE FROM FOOD SALES AT PARKING FACILITY.
