Organizations Filed Purposes:
IT IS THE MISSION OF THE SKCFC TO SUPPORT ITS MEMBER AGENCIES IN PROVIDING NUTRITIONALLY BALANCED FOOD FOR PEOPLE IN NEED.
THE SKFC ADMINISTERS AND MANAGES A CONTRACT WITH WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE THAT PROVIDES FUNDS FOR FOOD BANKS. THESE FUNDS ARE UTILIZED BY PARTICIPATING FOOD BANKS IN A VARIETY OF WAYS TO SUPPORT AND STRENGTHEN THE POSITIVE IMPACT OF THEIR SERVICES IN THEIR COMMUNITIES.
THE SKCFC PROVIDES A VENUE AND FRAMEWORK FOR THE SOUTH KING COUNTY FOOD BANKS TO SHARE CHALLENGES, PROBLEM SOLVE, AND SUPPORT POSITIVE SOLUTIONS AND BEST PRACTICES, FOR THE BETTERMENT OF OUR COMMUNITIES. MEETINGS AND SUPPORT CREATE STRENGTH IN A COLLECTIVE VOICE IN REPRESENTING THE NEEDS OF THE REGION WITH LARGER FOUNDATIONS, CORPORATIONS, SUPPLY PARTNERS, VENDORS, AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES. THE SKCFC ALSO INITIATES AND WORKS TO LEAD COORDINATED EFFORTS ON LARGE PROJECTS AND OPPORTUNITIES, INCLUDING FUNDRAISING AND MARKETING TO BENEFIT ALL AGENCIES THAT ARE MEMBERS OF THE COALITION.
THE SKCFC OPERATES AND MANAGES ELK RUN FARM, WHICH GROWS NUTRITIOUS AND SUSTAINABLE FOOD TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO FOOD BANKS ACROSS KING COUNTY. THIS INCREASES COMMUNITY ACCESS TO HEALTHY FOOD OPTIONS.
