Organizations Filed Purposes: EDMONDS DRIFTWOOD PLAYERS (EDP) IS A 501(C)(3) NON-PROFIT COMMUNITY THEATER. WE HAVE BEEN ENTERTAINING AND EDUCATING OUR COMMUNITY SINCE 1958, MAKING US ONE OF THE OLDEST CONTINUALLY OPERATING COMMUNITY THEATERS IN WASHINGTON STATE. OUR MISSION IS TO PRODUCE LIVE THEATER THAT ENTERTAINS, ENRICHES, AND ENGAGES THE COMMUNITY. WE PRODUCE PLAYS, SUPPORT LOCAL PLAYWRIGHTS, ENCOURAGE NEW ARTISTS TO SHARE THEIR NEW WORKS WITH THE COMMUNITY, AND OFFER EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO LEARNERS OF ALL AGES. EDP'S ONGOING PROGRAMS SERVE COMMUNITIES IN THE PUGET SOUND REGION FROM KING AND SNOHOMISH COUNTIES, INCLUDING:

OUR MISSION IS TO PRODUCE LIVE THEATER THAT ENTERTAINS, ENRICHES, AND ENGAGES THE COMMUNITY.

PRODUCTIONS OF EIGHT FULL LENGTH PLAYS AND MUSICALS EACH SEASON WHICH INCLUDES FIVE MAINSTAGE SHOWS THAT APPEAL TO A BROAD AUDIENCE BASE AS WELL AS THREE TIPS (THEATRE OF INTRIGUING POSSIBILITIES) SHOWS WHICH ARE DEVOTED TO PRESENTING SMALLER, CONTEMPORARY OR ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING TO OUR AUDIENCE, INCLUDING ONE ORIGINAL, NEVER PRODUCED WORK.

EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR TEENS AND YOUNG CHILDREN INCLUDING FOUR SUMMER CAMPS AND TWO TEEN TROUPE PRODUCTIONS WITH A COMBINATION OF 87 STUDENTS ONSTAGE AND OVER A DOZEN WORKING BACKSTAGE AND IN VARIOUS TECHNICAL POSITIONS. WE ALSO HOSTED A ONE-WEEK PARTNERSHIP WITH MISSOULA CHILDREN'S THEATRE WHICH SERVED 50 STUDENTS. SCHOLARSHIPS TO PROMISING HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS AND COLLEGE STUDENTS MAJORING IN THEATRE: 3 STUDENTS RECEIVED A TOTAL OF $1,500 FOR HIGHER EDUCATION. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THOSE STUDENTS IN NEED WITH SCHOLARSHIPS TOTALING OVER $2,000 FOR CAMPS AND CLASSES THROUGH EDP. THEATER EDUCATION FOR FAMILIES AND YOUTH IN HOMELESS SHELTERS-76 YOUTH AND FAMILIES FROM TWO DIFFERENT SHELTERS ATTENDED PRODUCTION PERFORMANCES AND 9 STUDENTS ATTENDED OUR SUMMER EDUCATION PROGRAMS.

OFFERING NEW PLAYWRIGHTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE THEIR WORKS PERFORMED ON STAGE RED PLANET BLUE WAS WRITTEN BY LOCAL PLAYWRIGHT JAMES LYLE. INTERPRETING ONE OF MORE OF EACH OF OUR MAIN STAGE SHOWS FOR OUR DEAF/HARD-OF-HEARING AUDIENCE MEMBERS. EACH MAINSTAGE PRODUCTION FEATURES ONE SATURDAY EVENING PERFORMANCE WITH ASL INTERPRETATION. EDP PROVIDES INTERPRETERS WITH SIGN COACHES, COMP TICKETS, AND DEAF/HARD-OF-HEARING PATRONS RECEIVE DISCOUNTED TICKETS. PARTNERSHIP WITH A LOCAL ART STUDIO (GALLERY NORTH, EDMONDS) TO PROVIDE NINE OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL ARTISTS TO HANG THEIR WORK IN OUR LOBBY FOR OUR PATRONS TO DISCOVER AND ENJOY.
