Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE ARTS COUNCIL OF SNOHOMISH COUNTY CELEBRATES AND PROMOTES THE ARTS FOR THE ENHANCEMENT OF THE COMMUNITY.
THE ARTS COUNCIL PROMOTES AND FACILITATES A SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR VISUAL ARTS, ARTISTS AND ART EDUCATION. THE ARTS COUNCIL HAS BEEN A MAJOR PROVIDER OF ARTS PROGRAMS SINCE INCORPORATION IN 1974, OFFERING A WIDE RANGE OF VISUAL EXHIBITS AND ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAMS. EDUCATION/OUTREACH TO PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND CONTINUOUS GALLERY EXHIBITS OF REGIONAL ARTISTS ARE PRESENTED TO THE PUBLIC ENSURING MAXIMUM ACCESS.
ARTISTS' SUPPORT: ARTISTS ARE PROVIDED OPPORTUNITIES FOR EMPLOYMENT AS INSTRUCTORS, VENUES FOR EXHIBITING/SELLING WORK, AND SUPPORT FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT. SEVEN GALLERY EXHIBITS ARE PRESENTED EACH YEAR AND FOUR COMMUNITY EVENTS TO PROMOTE ARTISTS AND INVITE INTERACTION WITH THE PUBLIC. THE GALLERY STORE FEATURES EMERGING TALENTS AND NEARLY $380,000 IN ANNUAL ART SALES CONTRIBUTE TO THE SUPPORT OF LOCAL ARTISTS. EACH YEAR ONE ARTIST IS DISTINGUISHED FOR ARTISTIC MERIT AND THEIR EFFORTS TO INSPIRE COMMUNITY SUPPORT OF THE ARTS.
K-12 ART EDUCATION: A FULL COMPLEMENT OF SERVICES ARE OFFERED TO SUPPORT ART EDUCATION IN COUNTY SCHOOLS. PROGRAMS CENTER ON ACCREDITED TRAINING FOR CLASSROOM TEACHERS AND INCLUDE CLASSROOM RESOURCES, I.E. CULTURAL ART OUTREACH SUITCASES, AS WELL AS GALLERY FIELD TRIPS, ART COMPETITIONS/EXHIBITS, AND ACCESS TO AWARDS/SCHOLARSHIPS. ALL PROGRAMS ADDRESS STATE STANDARDS FOR LEARNING IN THE ARTS. ART CLASSES ARE EXTENDED TO INCARCERATED YOUTH AS A DETERRENT TO DELINQUENCY AND TO ENCOURAGE THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMMUNICATION AND PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS, CRUCIAL COMPETENCIES FOR LIFE.ART CLASSES ARE PROVIDED TO HOMELESS YOUTH IN A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE COCOON HOUSE.MONTHLY OPEN STUDIO PROGRAM FOR TEENS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION: A BROAD RANGE OF ART CLASSES ARE OFFERED TO INVITE THE COMMUNITY TO ENGAGE IN CREATIVE DISCOVERY.
