TOURISM: Maintain a Visitors Information Center(VIC), staffed daily to assist guests and travelers in finding things to do locally. The VIC is also a community resource for our local community members to access information on local events and programs. We provide information via phone, internet and in person on Whatcom County, all of Washington State and beyond. We publish and distribute promotional brochures that advertise the attributes and points of interest of Ferndale to encourage tourists to visit and extend their stay locally. We also provide relocation information and encourage businesses to do commerce here. We purchase and maintain 120 large flower baskets as a community beautification program through the summer, it is a tourist attraction.
COMMUNITY EVENTS: The Chamber sponsors and coordinates several community events, including the Ferndale Street Festival which takes place the last weekend in August. With live music, food and street vendors, car show and free kids' events, it draws people in from all over the region. We also host a spring fun run, flower basket community beautification program, a downtown trick or treat event and a community tree lighting, which all bring thousands of people to our community.
BUSINESS PROGRAMS: The Chamber holds various business programs that encourages business development and opportunity. There are monthly networking luncheons, business educational programs, leadership groups after-hours networking, industry tours, business mentoring programs, business and youth educational scholarships, information and political forums that directly relate to the community and speakers that discuss topics unique to Ferndale and the surrounding region in the areas of economic and community development.
