ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: ISLAND GROWN IN SAN JUANS COOPERATIVE MARKETING PROGRAM PROMOTED 72 FARMS, VALUE-ADDED PRODUCERS AND RESTAURANTS THE FOLLOWING WAYS: DISTRIBUTION OF 5,000 SAVOR THE FLAVOR MAPS AND SAN JUAN COUNTY FOOD AND FARM GUIDES; A "DISCOVER HERITAGE TASTES, EAT ISLAND GROWN" SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN WITH 11,934 UNIQUE PAGE VIEWS TO ISLANDGROWNSJ.COM; AND COORDINATED THE BITE OF THE SAN JUANS EVENT TO PROMOTE LOCAL CHEFS AND FARMERS TO OVER 900 PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE. IN ADDITION, THE AG GUILD HELPED GUIDE THE FORMATION OF THE SAN JUAN ISLANDS FOOD HUB INTO A MULTI-STAKEHOLDER COOPERATIVE TO HELP COORDINATE THE SALES AND DISTRIBUTIONS OF SAN JUAN COUNTY PRODUCTS THROUGHOUT THE ISLANDS AND TO THE MAINLAND.
EDUCATION AND OUTREACH: FARMERS-TO-FARMLAND PROGRAM CONNECTED 57 BEGINNING FARMERS TO RESOURCES IN SEARCH OF FARMLAND FOR LEASE IN SAN JUAN COUNTY. OF THOSE, 20 WERE LINKED TO SPECIFIC FARMLAND OPPORTUNITIES AND SUPPORT NECESSARY FOR SUCCESS, AND 5 LEASED TO PURCHASE FARMLAND. THE AG GUILD ASSISTED WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION OF SAN JUAN COUNTY WITH ORGANIZING THE SAN JUAN COUNTY AG SUMMIT, TWO DAYS OF INSPIRATION AND EDUCATION ON LOPEZ ISLAND. THE AG GUILD TOOK THE LEAD ORGANIZING THE SAN JUAN COUNTY FARM TOURS ON LOPEZ, SAN JUAN AND ORCAS ISLANDS WITH OVER 700 PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE.
