Organizations Filed Purposes:
To promote the well-being of wildlife and their habitats through rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife, public education and non-invasive research.
Rehabilitation of 439 animals during the year, representing 90 species. Animals from 23 locations including multiple island locations in the pacific northwest. 194 animals released an uncorrected rate of 44.2%. Corrected release rate (excluding DOA and EOA) is 67.8%. Both rates represent reductions from 2018 but remain above standards. A 5% improvement over 2017's uncorrected rate and almost 10% over rehabilitation standards. In 2019 WHWRC treated and released 7 harbor seals.
The Wolf Hollow Education Program completed 113 presentations to 5428 people during the year which reflects an increase over 2018. WHWRC provided internships for 8 individuals pursuing or considering careers in animal rehabilitation that were selected from over 55 applicants. In addition, the center provided an opportunity for an education internship who worked closely with our education coordinator during the summer months.
