Binaytara Foundation Cancer Center in Nepal:The Binaytara Foundation Cancer Center (BTFCC), located in Janakpurdham, Nepal, provides cancer prevention, early detection, cancer treatment, and palliative care services at its 25-bed hospital. Janakpurdham is a city in Nepals province 2. The province is the most populous of all 7 provinces in Nepal; however, it didnt have any cancer center until the BTFCC opened its door in the first week of December 2018. As the first and only cancer center in this region, the BTFCC is expected to serve nearly 20,000 patients annually from southeast Nepal as well as from nearby Indian state of Bihar. The Binaytara Foundation Cancer Center is staffed by highly qualified physicians, nurses, and other staff who are supported by experts in the USA via weekly tumor boards and video-conferencing to help manage patient health issues utilizing the latest evidence.

Continuing Education for Healthcare Providers:The Binaytara Foundation organizes some of the largest cancer conferences in the pacific northwest with the goal of improving the care of cancer patients by educating healthcare providers. As COVID-19 pandemic hit and our in-person education activities got cancelled, we continued our educational efforts virtually. Through our partnership with accredited providers and cancer experts, we provided over 60 hours of accredited and non-accredited education to nearly 500 healthcare providers in the United States and other parts of the world during this fiscal year. The Binaytara Foundation is accredited by the California Board of registered Nursing to provide continuing education for nurses. We recently received accreditation from the Washington State Medical Association to provide continuing education for physicians.

Project ACCESS (Advancing Cancer Care for the Economically and Socially Stressed) is the Organizations patient focused project that includes a broad range of activities such as in-person or virtual cancer patient education (NWCS - The Northwest Cancer Summit), cancer screening & awareness, and cancer patient advocacy and outreach. Electronic Health Record:The Binaytara Foundation is developing an electronic health record, or EHR, tailored to the healthcare needs and infrastructure of South Asian countries. The project involves the development of a web-based EHR, implementation, and ongoing maintenance. The goal is to improve the quality of life of residents in this region by aiding healthcare providers in clinical decision making, improving adherence to treatment by tracking follow-ups and utilization of services, and collecting important health data to be used to improve care and services. Once developed, the EHR system will be implemented as a pilot program at outpatient clinics in Nepal, India, and Bhutan where the Binaytara Foundation has existing healthcare projects. These projects include establishing cancer services, and expanding hospice and palliative care programs. One-year Internship Program:Binaytara Foundation also has a one-year internship program that provides hands-on experience and education for students/new graduates of health professions who are interested in global health and health disparities.
