Organizations Filed Purposes:
Studio East creates opportunities for young people to discover and explore the performing arts.
Mainstage Productions: In order to create opportunities for students to practice their craft and develop their skills, Studio East produces 7-8 mainstage productions each season. With professional directors, choreographers, and designers, students engage in a full rehearsal process and present their final production for the public in performance runs that range from 3 to 16 performances. In fiscal year 2019, 300 students participated in productions, and more than 9,800 people attended the performances.
Summer Education Programs: Studio East offers a wide range of theater-based summer programs that engage students ages 4 to 19 in learning the skills and techniques of theater performance. In fiscal year 2019, 1,050 students participated in summer programs.
StoryBook Theater (SBT): StoryBook Theater introduces young children to live theater with original musicals written for very young audiences - ages 3 through 10 - and performed by an adult professional touring company. In fiscal year 2019, SBT presented 188 performances in Kirkland, Everett, Shoreline, Seattle, Renton, Olympia, and Auburn. The shows were attended by 40,000 people, including 26,000 school children.
