Organizations Filed Purposes: RWANDA GIRLS INITIATIVE (RGI), ALONG WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, HAS DESIGNED A MODEL OF GIRLS SECONDARY BOARDING SCHOOL IN AN UNDERSERVED SECTOR OF THE COUNTRY. THIS SCHOOL DELIVERS HIGH QUALITY EDUCATION TO GIRLS GIVING THEM A NUMBER OF OPPORTUNITIES UPON GRADUATION. RGI WILL ALSO DEVELOP, ALONG WITH OUR PARTNER, WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY, A NUMBER OF INCOME GENERATING PROGRAMS ENABLING THE SCHOOL TO BECOME INDEPENDENT.

EDUCATE AND EMPOWER GIRLS OF RWANDA TO REACH THEIR HIGHEST POTENTIAL.

SUPPORT OF RWANDA GIRLS INITIATIVE NGO. THE SCHOOL IS AT MAXIMUMCAPACITY WITH 275 STUDENTS IN GRADES 10-12. IN 2019 WE CELEBRATED OURSIXTH GRADUATION AND HAVE APPROXIMATELY 95%+ OF OUR STUDENTS CONTINUEON TO UNIVERSITY. THE SCHOOL IS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE TOP, IF NOT THETOP SCHOOL IN RWANDA AND IS SERVING AS A MODEL FOR THE COUNTRY. WECONTINUE TO STRIVE TO EDUCATE THE WHOLE GIRL, OFFERING MANYEXTRACURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES SUCH AS DEBATE, CHOIR, COMMUNITY SERVICEAND YOGA TO NAME JUST A FEW. ADDITIONALLY, THERE IS A FULLY OPERATIONALFARM WHICH IN ADDITION TO SUPPLYING THE SCHOOL WITH FRESH FRUITS,VEGETABLES, EGGS AND HONEY ALSO SERVES AS AN "OUTDOOR CLASSROOM"ALLOWING STUDENTS TO PURSUE RESEARCH IN AGRICULTURE, SCIENCE ANDENTREPRENEURSHIP.

THE HOWARD G. BUFFETT FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS ARE EXPRESSLY PROVIDED TO SUPPORT A TOTAL OF 33 GASHORA STUDENTS IN 3 ENROLLMENT COHORTS FOR 4 YEARS OF UNDERGRADUATE STUDY IN SCHOOLS OF AGRICULTURE IN APPROVED UNIVERSITIES WHICH CURRENTLY INCLUDE SOME IN THE USA, CANADA AND COSTA RICA. WHILE THE SCHOLARSHIPS DO NOT COVER 100% OF THE COSTS OF ATTENDANCE, EACH ONE IS SUBSTANTIAL ENOUGH TO MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR THE RECEIVING INSTITUTIONS TO "CLOSE THE GAP" USING THEIR OWN FINANCIAL AID DOLLARS. WE ADDITIONALLY, SUPPORT A FEW OTHER US SCHOLARSHIPS.WHILE THE SCHOLARSHIPS DO NOT COVER 100% OF THE COSTS OF ATTENDANCE, EACH ONE IS SUBSTANTIAL ENOUGH TO MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR THE RECEIVING INSTITUTIONS TO "CLOSE THE GAP" USING THEIR OWN FINANCIAL AID DOLLARS.

THE ALUMNAE PROGRAM SUPPORTS OUR GASHORA GIRLS ACADEMY ALUMNAE AS THEY TRANSITION FROM HIGH SCHOOL, TO COLLEGE AND INTO THEIR CAREER.
