Organizations Filed Purposes: Skagit Symphony's mission is to inspire and transform our community through the power of music.

CONCERT SEASON: Each year, Skagit Symphony presents a season of four evening concerts, featuring our orchestra of 65 volunteer musicians as well as extraordinary guest soloists. In the state-of-the-art McIntyre Hall on the Skagit Valley College campus in Mount Vernon, Washington, we perform well-known pieces of great classical music in addition to beautiful lesser-known orchestral works. Skagit Symphony treasures its role as the area's only community orchestra, composed of musicians from fourteen cities and towns of our region. Our 40th anniversary season in 2019-2020 featured our new Music Director, Dr. Michael Wheatley, and we had planned to add our first-ever pops concert. Our season was cut short due to the pandemic, so we were only able to present two live evening concerts in 2019-20, each closing with standing ovations. Fortunately, we were able to offer online music appreciation classes while we re-tooled for digital programming.

SCHOOL CONCERTS: For the thirteenth year, we offered three School Concerts at McIntyre Hall to all fifth graders in Skagit Valley, raising funds to cover all expenses so that there is no cost to students or their schools. More than 1800 students participated in this educational and engaging program in January 2020, which introduces orchestral instruments and music in a special 45-minute concert.

FAMILY CONCERT: Another annual tradition, Skagit Symphony presented our popular Family Concert to a full house at McIntyre Hall in January 2020. This Sunday afternoon event began with our new Children's Music Fair in the lobby, which included an opportunity for families to talk with our orchestra members and see their instruments up close, as well as to engage in hands-on music activities offered by various community organizations. Following these festivities, the orchestra performed our special educational program that introduces orchestral instruments and symphonic music to an audience of all ages.
