WE COLLECT AND DISTRIBUTE FOOD AND OTHER NECESSARY HOUSEHOLD ITEMS TO THOSE IN NEED IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY. THE FOOD WE DISTRIBUTE COMES FROM FOOD DRIVES, GROCERY STORES, INDIVIDUAL DONATIONS, VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA, NORTHWEST HARVEST, AND FOOD WE PURCHASE.

WE ASSISTED 16,151 INDIVIDUALS (5,024 HOUSEHOLDS) THIS YEAR WITH AN AVERAGE OF 70 POUNDS OF FOOD PER HOUSEHOLD PER WEEK. WE WERE OPEN ONCE A WEEK FOR 48 WEEKS.5,024 X 70=351,680 X $1.73 = $608,406.40WE WERE GIVEN A TOTAL OF 561,290 POUNDS OF FOOD (X $1.73 PER POUND).WE AVERAGED ABOUT 10 PER CENT IN FOOD WASTE PER WEEK, PER OUR DIRECTOR MIKE BEGEMAN.)

IN ADDITION TO FOOD, WE HELPED HOUSEHOLDS PAY VITAL BILLS SUCH AS ELECTRICITY, NATURAL GAS, WATER, GARBAGE, HOUSING, RENT, MOTEL, TELEPHONE, AND MEDICAL/DENTAL. MOST CLIENTS RECEIVED $75 IN THIS FORM OF ASSISTANCE, WHICH WE PAID DIRECTLY TO THE VENDOR. THE CLIENTS WERE ABLE TO REQUEST THIS HELP ONCE EVERY SIX MONTHS. THIS DIRECT ASSISTANCE TOTALED $7,663.06. CLIENTS WERE ALSO ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE TWO BUS TICKETS PER WEEK TO ASSIST IN GETTING TO AND FROM THE FOOD BANK. THESE TICKETS WERE PURCHASED FROM COMMUNITY TRANSIT AND COST A TOTAL OF $4,910 FOR THE YEAR. *(AN ADDITIONAL $100 IN TICKETS WERE PURCHASED AND DONATED TO US TO DISTRIBUTE.)WE WERE ALSO A MIDDLE-MAN FOR THE SALVATION ARMY, DISPENSING VOUCHERS FOR NECESSARY BILLS, WHICH WERE IN TURN PAID TO THE VENDORS BY THE SALVATION ARMY.

A $250 DONATION WAS GIVEN TO CLOTHES FOR KIDS, AN ORGANIZATION THAT HELPED MANY OF OUR FAMILIES WITH CLOTHING AND SHOES.A $500 DONATION WAS GIVEN TO THE SOUTH SNOHOMISH COUNTY TOY SHOP, AN ORGANIZATION THAT ASSISTED MANY OF OUR CLIENTS WITH HOLIDAY GIFTS FOR THEIR CHILDREN.GLUE STICKS VALUED AT $109.30 WERE DONATED TO THE BACK TO SCHOOL RESOURCE FAIR, RUN BY THE EDMONDS SCHOOL DISTRICT, WHICH HELPED MANY OF OUR CLIENTS WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES.A $1,000 DONATION WAS GIVEN TO NORTHWEST HARVEST, A NON-PROFIT FOOD BANK DISTRIBUTOR OPERATING STATEWIDE IN WA.
