THE PROJECT FOCUSES ON THREE EMERGING TECHNOLOGICAL AREAS RELATED TO CODEABLE DIGITAL DEVICES (RASPBERRY PI), 3D PRINTING, AND AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS (LAND, AIR, WATER) INSTRUCTION. ROBUST INSTRUCTOR SUPPORT AND COMMUNICATION PROMOTES THE 1) EXCHANGE OF CURRENT ACTIVITIES AND IDEAS ACCROSS SITES; 2) COLLABORATION ON PROBLEM-SOLVING CHALLENGES; 3) DISCOVER STEM FIELDS AND CAREER PATHS; 4) INSTRUCTOR TRAINING AND SUPPORT; 5) TWO-WAY COMMUNICATION WITH STEM CAREER PROFESSIONALS.
TALENT SEARCH. BUILDING FROM THE T3 ALLIANCE PROGRAM AND ACTIVITIES, TRIO INSTRUCTIONS AROUND THE USA WERE AWARDED A "TALENT SEARCH" GRANT FROM THE US DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. THIS 1-YEAR GRANT THAT ENDED ON JUNE 30, 2020 ALLOWED E4L TO PROVIDE TRAINING AND SERVICES FOR A BROADER AUDIENCE THAN EVER BEFORE. CONDUCTING "TRAINING OF TRAINERS" E4L RAN FACE TO FACE VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION FOR DIRECTORS AND THEIR STAFF TO LEARN STEM TECHNOLOGIES TO TEACH TO THEIR YOUNG, AGES 12-18 IN LARGE GROUPS FOR ONE-TIME EVENTS. THE GOAL WAS TO PROVIDE AN EXPERIENCE OF STEM AND OPEN THE THOUGHTS OF YOUTH TO WANT TO EXPLORE STEM CAREERS IN THE FUTURE. THE TRAININGS WERE OFTEN COMBINED WITH THE ORIGINAL T3 ALLIANCE COHORT TO GIVE A RICHER EXPERIENCE TO BOTH GROUPS. THE PROJECT CORRICULUM FOCUSES ON FOUR ELEMENTS THAT PREPARE INSTRUCTORS TO INCREASE STUDENT'S INTEREST AND KNOWLEDGE OF STEM CAREERS: 1) TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTION IN PROGRAMMABLE / CODABLE RASPBERRY PI DEVICES, SENSORS, AND 3D PRINTERS. 2) DEVELOPING A STUDENT'S GROWTH MINDSET, USING DESIGN THINKING TO ADDRESS PROBLEMS, AND STEM CAREER PATHWAYS. 3) OUTREACH TO STUDENTS USING HANDS-ON STEM KNOWLEDGE ACTIVITIES. 4) A COMPREHENSIVE NETWORK OF TRAINING, COMMUNICATION, AND SUPPORT FOR INSTRUCTIONAL TS STAFF. WITH THE T3 ALLIANCE SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDS, THE TALENT SEARCH WERE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN PROGRAMS THAT WOULD NORMALLY NOT BE POSSIBLE DUE TO THE HIGH EXPENSES FOR EACH ACTIVITY.
HYDABURG CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT. EDUCATING FOR LEADERSHIP (E4L) PROVIDES EDUCATION SERVICES TO THE SCHOOL DISTRICT IN HYDABURG, ALASKA THROUGH GRANT ACTIVITY COORDINATION, REPORTS, MATERIALS, AND SUPPLIES. E4L ALSO PROVIDES "BOOTS ON THE GROUND" FOR TYPE A & TYPE B ALASKA CERTIFIED CONTRACTORS WHO FILL IN TEMPORARILY FOR THE PRINCIPAL AND TEACHERS ON SITE. CONSULTATION CONTINUES THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR AND INTO THE SUMMER PLANNING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
