Organizations Filed Purposes: THE TRUST COLLABORATES WITH LANDOWNERS, COMMUNITY MEMBERS, ORGANIZATIONS, AND BUSINESSES TO CONSERVE AND PROTECT NATURAL LANDSCAPES, WIDE OPEN SPACES, WORKING FARMS AND RANCHES, CLEAN AIR AND WATER, AND ABUNDANT WILDLIFE.

EDUCATION AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS:OKANOGAN LAND TRUST CONTINUED TO DEVELOP ITS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING AND OUTREACH-RELATED PROGRAM WORK. WE HELD THE 3RD YEAR OF OUR OKAKNOWLEDGY EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATIONS, FEATURING SPEAKERS FROM A VARIETY OF NATURAL AND SOCIAL HISTORY FIELDS OF KNOWLEDGE. THIS WORK WAS FUNDED IN PART BY THE LEITER FAMILY FOUNDATION, THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF NORTH CENTRAL WASHINGTON, AND THE CHARLOTTE MARTIN FOUNDATION.ANOTHER OUTREACH FOCUS INVOLVED WORKING WITH LANDOWNERS TO PLAN AND IMPLEMENT RIPARIAN NATIVE PLANTINGS ON THEIR PROPERTIES. IN CONJUNCTION WITH THIS, WE HELD AN EDUCATIONAL EVENT ON SALMON RECOVERY. THIS WORK WAS FUNDED BY THE UPPER COLUMBIA SALMON RECOVERY BOARD.

WORKING FOR WILDLIFE:OKANOGAN LAND TRUST CONTINUED WORK ON A MULTI-YEAR INITIATIVE INVOLVING SEVERAL PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS CALLED WORKING FOR WILDLIFE (WFW), WHICH IS FUNDED BY THE NATIONAL FISH AND WILDLIFE FOUNDATION (NFWF). FUNDING HAS BEEN USED FOR STAFF TIME AND OTHER EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH EXPLORING CONSERVATION OPPORTUNITIES IN THE PROJECT AREA, AS WELL AS DUE DILIGENCE ACTIVITIES ON POTENTIAL PROJECTS SUCH AS APPRAISALS AND BASELINES. THE MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENT OF THIS YEAR'S WORK WAS SECURING A CONSERVATION EASEMENT ON APPROXIMATELY 1,400 ACRES IN THE TUNK VALLEY.

CONSERVATION AND STEWARDSHIP:OKANOGAN LAND TRUST CONTINUED ITS WORK ON CONSERVING AND STEWARDING LAND AND WATER RESOURCES. WE FOCUSED ON DEVELOPING THREE CONSERVATION EASEMENTS FUNDED IN PART BY THE WASHINGTON STATE RECREATION AND CONSERVATION OFFICE, MOVING THEM ALONG THROUGH DUE DILIGENCE PHASES AND SEEKING ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR MATCH. WE ALSO PARTICIPATED IN A COUNTY-WIDE WATERSHED PLANNING GROUP, WHICH WAS CHARGED WITH UPDATING WATERSHED MANAGEMENT PLANS FOR OUR AREA. THIS WORK WAS FUNDED BY THE NORTHWEST FUND FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE LEITER FAMILY FOUNDATION. .
