Organizations Filed Purposes:
ASSOCIATION OF WASHINGTON CITIES IS A VOLUNTARY, NOT-FOR-PROFIT, NONPARTISAN ORGANIZATION. MEMBERSHIP IS OPEN TO ANY INCORPORATED CITY OR TOWN IN WASHINGTON STATE. THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ASSOCIATION IS TO SERVE THE CITIES AND TOWNS OF WASHINGTON STATE THROUGH ADVOCACY, EDUCATION AND SERVICES. TO ACCOMPLISH THIS, THE ASSOCIATION PROVIDES A BROAD RANGE OF SERVICES INCLUDING RESEARCH, EDUCATION, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, INSURANCE SERVICES AND LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITY TO INCREASE THE ABILITY OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT TO MEET THE COMPLEX MUNICIPAL ISSUES.
TO SERVE OUR MEMBERS THROUGH ADVOCACY, EDUCATION AND SERVICES.
MEMBER SERVICES - THE MEMBER SERVICE PROGRAM INCLUDES ANNUAL PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS THAT EDUCATE MEMBERS ON ESSENTIAL MUNICIPAL ISSUES. EDUCATION IS PROVIDED IN THE FORM OF VARIOUS MODES OF TRAINING AS WELL AS A VARIETY OF PRINT, E-MAIL, AND WEB-BASED PUBLICATIONS. STRATEGIC AREAS OF EMPHASIS INCLUDE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, MAXIMIZING LIMITED RESOURCES, SMALL CITIES, LABOR RELATIONS, HUMAN RESOURCES, JOBNET AND THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE. APPROXIMATELY 3,723 PARTICIPANTS ATTENDED TRAININGS OFFERED BY AWC INCLUDING 494 MEMBER DELEGATES THAT ATTENDED THE 2019 ANNUAL CONFERENCE. MEMBERSHIP IS COMPRISED OF ALL 281 INCORPORATED CITIES AND TOWNS IN WASHINGTON. AWC HAS CONSISTENTLY MAINTAINED 100% PARTICIPATION OF ALL INCORPORATED CITIES AND TOWNS IN THE STATE.
CONTRACTS AND GRANTS - AWC PROVIDES A VARIETY OF TECHNICAL ANDADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES, INCLUDING THE AWC EMPLOYEE BENEFIT TRUST, THEAWC-RISK MANAGEMENT SERVICE AGENCY, GIS CONSORTIUM AND THE DEPARTMENTOF ECOLOGY RSMP COMMUNICATION STRATEGY PROJECT.
STATE AND FEDERAL RELATIONS - A PROGRAM OF INTERGOVERNMENTAL RELATIONSIS PROVIDED BY A TEAM OF ADVOCATES AND RESEARCH ANALYSTS. SERVICESINCLUDE DEVELOPING THE ANNUAL LEGISLATIVE AGENDA, BUILDING LEGISLATIVEAND OTHER GOVERNMENTAL RELATIONSHIPS, CONDUCTING POLICY RELATEDRESEARCH AND ANALYSIS AND PROVIDING INFORMATION AND POLICY LEVELASSISTANCE TO MEMBERS.
