Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Franklin Alumni Association & Foundation exists to enhance the educational experience of the students at Franklin High School. We also keep alumni connected with each other and with Franklin High School.
FAA&F provides grants to enhance the educational experience of Franklin students. We are committed provide a predictable $30,000 a year to grants each year and then fund other grants as funds are available. We are proud of the support we can provide, meeting a gap in funding enrichment programs that cannot be met by a school with a student population that is at least two-thirds on free and reduced lunch. These grants, over the course of the year, impacted nearly every student and staff member at Franklin High School - more than 1200 in total. In 2019 we provided grants to support: athletic team uniforms and equipment, the music program, the robotics program and sex education.
Thirteen students received scholarships for post high school education from three scholarship funds - the Franklin Scholarship fund primarily focusing on successful students with financial need (5 @ $2000 each); the Swarts Science College Science Scholarship (2 @ $1000 for new awardees and 4 @ $1000 who received continuing funding from previous awards); Ed Lee Leadership Scholarship (for $2,000 2@$1000)
Quaker Times: We mailed a newsletter to more than 2000 alumni. The newsletter informs alumni about class reunions, features stories about current students and alumni, and gives updates about Franklin high school. This allows alumni to maintain connections with each other and to encourage connection with and investment in current Franklin High School needs.
