Organizations Filed Purposes:
Amplifier Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to amplifying the voices of grassroots movements through art and community engagement by funding collaborations between those movements and contemporary artists so their messages can reach a wider audience. Their goal is to flip artists into activists and observers into participants.
Education through Art: Amplifier has worked with hundreds of renowned artists, distributed over a million pieces of art and sent free artwork to hundreds of thousands of students across the United States. Amplifier provides free artwork, lesson plans and teaching tools that help facilitate non-partisan conversations around social justice in K-12 classrooms.
Realizing Democracy: In collaboration with the Ford Foundation Community Change, the Center on Democracy and Organizing, Demos, and the Open Society Foundations and we developed a multi-year art series for Realizing Democracy ? which is an effort to reimagine the relationship among civil society, government, and the economy ? asking, what it would take to realize the full promise of democracy in the United States of America? In 2019, we commissioned a unique body of artwork and distributed it with partners who share our commitment to nurturing a democracy that works for all people.
We The Future: The We the Future campaign showcased ten young leaders representing ten diverse movements, each already building us a better world. They are drafting and passing legislation. They are working on climate justice, criminal justice reform, voting rights, immigration rights, disability justice, gun reform, queer rights, and literacy. Their work is nonpartisan, and it carries the energy of countless communities from every background. In a time of uncertainty these icons show us a path forward, and they show us that the future is already here. In partnership with the artists Shepard Fairey, Rommy Torrico, Munk One, and Kate DeCiccio, this project placed art and supporting teaching tools representing these young leaders and their movements into more than 20,000 schools across the country to inspire and engage the next generation.
