Braided River is committed to inspiring support for critical conservation efforts. We combine the arts of photography and literature to create books, media campaigns, multimedia presentations, and museum exhibits that change perspectives and engage audiences beyond the traditional environmental core. By developing partnerships with like-minded organizations and building broader public support, we inspire action that results in on-the-ground victories for wilderness preservation.
We Are Puget Sound - We Are Puget Sound is a book and multimedia campaign that launched October 2019 to amplify the voices and ideas working to protect and restore Puget Sound. Our goal is to help engage and inspire people around the region to join together to preserve its ecosystem and the livelihoods that depend on it.Rapid Response - Braided River's Rapid Response Fund allows us to act fast when sudden conservation threatsand opportunitiesarise. In 2019, our Rapid Response Fund went to support a photo exhibit about wild salmon in Alaska, as well as assisting in a national campaign to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.Big Thaw - The Big Thaw is a multimedia book designed to immersively educate the public about the role of thawing permafrost in global climate change. Partnered with Woods Hole Research Center, readers meet a diverse team of scientists and students who have been studying the permafrost and what lies beneath: a vast store of ancient carbon, more than four times the quantity found in all of todays forests.Other - Other Braided River projects include: Colorado River, Life of an Owl, The Salmon Way, Mountain Caribou and Prince William Sound.
