WE CONVENED A LEARNING EXCHANGE REGARDING EDUCATION WHERE WE BROUGHT TOGETHER COMMUNITY AND EDUCATION STAKEHOLDERS TO DISCUSS A PLAN OF ACTION FOR OUR YOUNG PEOPLE AND THEIR FAMILIES TO THRIVE. WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE TO CREATE A RESTORATIVE, INCLUSIVE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT WITHIN THE COMMUNITY?
THE DELTA VISION - BUILDING CAPACITY FOR AND BY COMMUNITIES OF COLOR. THIS IS A PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHER LOCAL CAPACITY BUILDING ORGANIZATIONS, WHERE WE ARE BUILDING OFF OF WORK DONE IN 2018 - THE DELTA VISION PROJECT. THE GROUP CONTINUES TO MEET TO BUILD OUR ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS AND TO WORK TOGETHER AND DETERMINE NEXT STEPS.
RESTORATIVE, INCLUSIVE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT - RISE INITIATIVE - THE CENTER IS FOCUSING ON YOUTH LEADERSHIP ONCE AGAIN, DRAWING FROM YOUTH LEADERS OF PROMISE (YLOP) - FUNDED BY KING COUNTY'S BEST STARTS FOR KIDS RFP TO PILOT THE PROGRAM AND PARTNER WITH TWO SCHOOLS IN SOUTH SEATTLE, AND SEATTLE PUBLIC SCHOOL'S LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AND EQUITY IMPACT. WE CONTINUED OUR WORK FROM 2018 IN SEPTEMBER, TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH STUDENTS, SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION AND STAFF, FAMILIES, AND COMMUNITY - CREATING A VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD. FOLLOWING OUR ASSESSMENT ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE SCHOOL/DISTRICT'S SYSTEMS, WE CONTINUED TO SHOW UP AND LEARNED WHAT SCHOOLS REALLY NEED TO BE A RESTORATIVE, INCLUSIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT. WE WILL CONTINUE TO STRENGTHEN THE RISE INITIATIVE FOR FUTURE IMPLEMENTATION IN OTHER SCHOOL SYSTEMS. WORKING TOGETHER TO CREATE AN EVEN MORE WELCOMING CULTURE FOR LEARNING.
