To present and produce Black cultural programs that encourage thought and debate for the greater Seattle area.
Showing out: Contemporary Black Dance, Donald Byrd curated and mentored five local Black choreographers (Dani Tirrell, Jade solomon- Curtis, Markeith Wiley, Sadiqua Cutcher and Alex Crozier) each presented one 20 minute piece to 2 sold out audiences. The artist along with Donald Byrd participated in an audience talk back. Say It Loud an accapella musical event featured three local vocalists Felicia V. Loud, Jimmie Herrod Jr and Josephine Howel. Each of the artists shared with the audience stories and music that they created or has inspired them. Imagination and Intellect curated by Dr. Charles Johnson was 2 powerful conversations on finding your place in the community as a Black artist. Dr. Johnson shared along with selected panel members his experiences and processes in developing works. Included in the conversation was Vivian Phillips, Barbara Earl Thomas and Brian McDonald.
