Organizations Filed Purposes: Our mission is to increase access to high quality education in rural Tanzania. CORE provides support to Twegashe Integral Development, a Tanzanian NGO. Our current project is the construction and operation of Twegashe Primary School in the village of Bushasha in northwestern Tanzania.

CORE Tanzania provides grants to Twegashe Integral Development (TID), a Tanzanian NGO, whose purpose is to construct and operate Twegashe Primary School in Bushasha Village, Tanzania. Through grants from CORE, the construction was almost completed by the end of 2019 on the K-3 Phase of Twegashe Primary School, with four classrooms, teacher offices, a cafeteria, a kitchen, a water well, and teacher housing. In addition, CORE grants allowed TID to hire two experienced kindergarten teachers in December 2019. Twegashe Primary School opened for the first class of kindergartners on Feb. 3, 2020. In addition to financial support, CORE Tanzania arranged for more than 2,500 TID volunteer hours contributing to the design and construction of the school as well as the development of the school curriculum. A team of Gensler architects headed by Marc Oplinger donated 100% of the architectural design services and Marc made two trips to Bushasha Village to ensure that the construction conformed to plans. Bill Suhr shut down his U.S. construction business and volunteered for six months in Bushasha to manage construction and provide on-the-job training in construction skills to village laborers. In addition, CORE board president Michael Banobi spent seven months in the village in 2019 as a volunteer overseeing the entire project. A very experienced curriculum committee spent countless hours developing the school curriculum and Keela Rae Williams donated a full set of kindergarten Montessori teaching materials to TID. In January 2020, she traveled to Bushasha to spend a month training Twegashe's teachers. CORE is committed to high quality education in rural Tanzania. We are also committed to environmental sustainability and are arranging for the construction of microflush biofil toilets, installation of solar power and cultivation of a school garden to provide food for the students. Our financial commitment to TID includes ensuring that CORE has enough in reserves to fully fund school operations for the current and following school year.
