Coyote sparks creativity in young people, putting tools in their hands to build skills and forge their futures.
Studio Coyote engaged over 1,000 youth ages 10 to 15 with professional artists, filmmakers, chefs, furniture makers, fashion designers, music producers, animators, dancers, jewelers, writers and more. Participants learned hands-on skills and drew on their personal and cultural identities to design individual projects. Coyote also partnered with local schools to provide enrichment during the school day. Studio Coyote engages youth of wildly different backgrounds in race, culture, economic status, family situation, and abilities in a culture of mutual respect and collaborative discovery. Over half of Studio Coyote enrollments every year are by youth who identify as people of color. Every course is offered on a pay-what-works-for-you basis, with no limits to the number of amount of tuition assistance per youth, family, or course.
CoyoteWorks engages refugee and immigrant youth ages 12 to 17 from the Seattle World School and elsewhere in after-school programming in creative vocations such as culinary arts, furniture making, fashion design, and photography. Youth learn the terms, tools, and skills of those vocations while also developing the skills and self-confidence to help them find employment to support themselves and their families.
CityWorks engages youth with professional artists to create public art for their community, building social awareness and the pride of community stewardship in our future leaders. CityWorks projects take place throughout the year.
