TO CREATE AND SUTAIN A VIBRANT ECONOMY AND DYNAMIC COMMUNITY THROUGHT PROMOTION AND EDUCATION
CLEAN AND SAFE STREETS PROGRAM: WE EMPLOY, YEAR ROUND, A TEAM OF SPECIAL NEEDS INDIVIDUALS TO MAINTAIN THE CELANLINESS OF OUR DOWNTOWN CORE. WE ARE COMMITTED TO PROVIDING EDUCATION AND RESOURCES FOR SPECIAL NEEDS INDIVIDUALS, TO LEARN PRACTICAL JOB SKILLS AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS WHILE ENSURING A CLEAN DOWNTOWN CORE. WE KNOW THAT APPEARANCE MATTERS TO RESIDENTS AND VISITORS AND STUDIES SHOW THAT WHEN A COMMUNITY SPACE IS CLEAN AND FREE OF TRASH AND GRAFFITI, CRIME RATES ALSO DECREASE. IN 2016 OVER 5,200 BAGS OF TRASH WERE REMOVED AS PART OF THIS PROGRAM.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, BUSINESS RETENTION AND RECRUITMENT: WE PROVIDE EDUCATION AND RESOURCES TO LOCAL BUSINESS OWNERS AND NEW OR PROSPECTIVE BUSINESS OWNERS BECAUSE A STRONG LOCAL BUSINESS COMMUNITY IS KEY TO THE WIDER SUCCESS OF THE COMMUNITY. WE HELD 9 EDUCATION EVENTS IN 2015 RANGING IN TOPICS FROM BUSINESS FINANCES, WEBSITE AND SEO, UPDATING BUSINESS PLANS AND DISASTER PREPAREDNESS FOR BUSINESS OWNERS. WE SERVED DOZENS OF NEW BUSINESSES AS WE HELPED THEM NAVIGATE THROUGH THE PERMITTING PROCESSES, FINANCING AND MARKETING TO EXPAND THEIR CUSTOMER BASE. WE HELD 10 NETWORKING EVENTS FOR BUSINESS OWNER TO MARKET AND SHARE THEIR BUSINESS INFORMATION TO POTENTIAL NEW CUSTOMERS.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: WE PRODUCE, ORGANIZE AND PROVIDE LOGISTICAL SUPPORT FOR SPECIAL EVENTS IN BURIEN BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT AN ENGAGED COMMUNITY IS AN ACTIVE AND HEALTHY COMMUNITY. WE HAD OVER 50 EVENT DAYS AND ACTIVITIES WITH AN ENGAGEMENT LEVEL OF OVER 100,000 PARTICIPANTS. SOME OF OUR TOP EVENTS INCLUDED A BEST OF BURIEN AWARDS DINNER WHERE MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY WERE RECOGNIZED FOR EXEMPLARY SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP, A FATHERS DAY CAR SHOW, A WELLNESS FAIR, AND OUR FARMERS MARKET THAT OFFERS FRESH, LOCAL AND SEASONAL PRODUCE TO THE COMMUNITY WEEKLY, MAY-OCTOBER.
